He said that liberation is in the realm of the mother. Jomo asked: Is it enough to just cut off the root of delusion like that? Please teach me how to practice. The teacher said: If it is a person of the highest faculty, after cutting it off like that, just recognizing the delusion, they will not fall into delusion again, and there are also those who attain enlightenment instantly. People of medium and lower faculties must practice the meaning of cutting off the root of delusion. Jomo asked: From where does delusion arise? What is the cause? When does delusion occur? What is the essence? In what way does delusion occur? What is the result? What is the analogy? The teacher said: The root of delusion is the Alaya Consciousness. Because the mind, which is universally discriminating, grasps the basis consciousness, the Dharmakaya, as self, the cause of delusion is ignorance. Delusion occurs because the co-emergent ignorance and the imputed ignorance accumulate bad habits. The time of delusion is when the discriminating wisdom arises. From the equality of the Alaya Consciousness Dharmata realm, when the awareness is distinguished from the Dharmakaya, and grasped as the two, object and mind, the essence of delusion is self-grasping. Like the Alaya Consciousness, which is like the sky, the afflicted mind looks inward and grasps it as self. The mind's consciousness looks outward, follows the five sense consciousnesses, and accumulates various discriminations, grasping them as enemies and friends, and thus delusion occurs. The way of delusion is that the essence of mind is not established anywhere, and cannot be given a name, but it is established as the outer container world and the inner sentient beings. Moreover, it clings to the non-existent realms, cities, children, wealth, enemies, and friends as existent. In this way, it establishes names, clings to attachment and aversion, and becomes deluded. The result of delusion is experiencing the suffering of the six realms. These are not done by others, but one's own mind is deluded and commits evil deeds. The analogy of delusion is like the saliva of a worm, which arises from itself, and then wraps itself and dies.

Having said that, the master said: The method to cut off illusion is to first generate special faith, and generate aversion from the Dharma of Samsara, generate longing for the supreme Dharma, and when relying on a master with pith instructions, one reaches the state of being able to dispel illusion. The analogy of the disappearance of illusion is like waking up from sleep. In a dream, all things such as happiness and suffering appear to be true, etc. When you wake up, there is nothing, it's all illusion. Like this kind of appearance, although all of this appears to be true in the face of the illusion of the mind, in reality nothing is truly established. There is no constant truth. All sentient beings will die, so it is not true. All dwellings and places will change, so it is not true. Now the three thousand worlds will eventually be destroyed by seven suns and one flood, so it is not true. The master said this. The cause and condition for the disappearance of illusion is like ice melting into water when exposed to sunlight. The self-born wisdom originally exists on the basis, and through the master's pith instructions, it must be transformed into wisdom. The master said this. The time when illusion disappears is when it disappears when mixed with mixed consciousness, that is, when it is mixed. Mixing matter and awareness together, there is no attachment to the material part of the body, and no attachment to the empty part of awareness, this is mixing. There is no attachment to me, parents, relatives, etc., and no hatred towards other appearances and enemies, this is the mixing of self and others. There is no abandoning Samsara and going far away, and no getting closer by practicing Nirvana, this is the unity of Samsara and Nirvana. Just like salt dissolving in water, staying in a state of indistinguishable equality, this is the time when illusion disappears. The master said this. The essence of the disappearance of illusion is that awareness is free from grasping and being grasped, that is, the nature of the knowable Dharmadhatu is unborn, and the wisdom of the knowing awareness is not different, experiencing in a non-dual state. That is to say, the state of emptiness in which all dharmas are without self-nature is the Dharmadhatu, and knowing that there is originally no self-nature is wisdom, that is, realizing that nothing has self-nature. The way illusion disappears is in the way of simultaneous birth and simultaneous cessation. At the time of illusion, because ignorance arises, wisdom disappears at the same time. Similarly, when illusion disappears, because wisdom arises, ignorance disappears at the same time.
