, one's own is also like that. We have entered the teachings of the Buddha, and knowingly engage in non-virtuous actions, understanding the cause and effect of good and evil deeds. This is no different from animals, the Blessed One said. Jo asked the teacher: If we abandon these, what fruits will we obtain? The teacher said: The ripening result is to be born as gods and humans, with a voice as beautiful as Brahma, a form as beautiful as Indra, and as wealthy as a universal monarch. The result of power is to retain what is heard and possess wisdom, to encounter the teachings of the Buddha, and ultimately to attain the state of the three enlightenments. The result in accordance with the cause is that in all lifetimes, one will strive to abandon the ten non-virtuous actions. Jo asked: Among these ten non-virtuous actions, are there differences in the magnitude of the sins? The teacher said: There are differences. In general, from the perspective of afflictions: committing the ten non-virtuous actions with anger leads to hell, with desire leads to the realm of hungry ghosts, and with ignorance leads to the animal realm. From the perspective of the object, there are differences in magnitude: committing the ten non-virtuous actions towards a special object leads to hell, towards an ordinary object leads to the realm of hungry ghosts, and towards an inferior object leads to the animal realm. Specifically, among killing, severing the life of a Bodhisattva who has generated the mind of enlightenment has the greatest ripening result of sin; among taking what is not given, stealing the property of the Three Jewels is the greatest sin; among sexual misconduct, engaging in sexual activity with an Arhat nun is the greatest sin; among lying, deceiving the lama and the Sangha who are worthy of offerings is the greatest sin; among divisive speech, causing discord in the Sangha is the greatest sin; among harsh speech, speaking unpleasant words to the Sangha is the greatest sin; among idle talk, disturbing the mind of a Bhikshuni meditating on the meaning of non-duality is the greatest sin; among covetousness, coveting the wealth of the Three Jewels is the greatest sin; among harmful intent, committing the five heinous crimes is the greatest sin; among wrong views, slandering the correct meaning is the greatest sin. Mtsho rgyal (Tsogyal, Yeshe Tsogyal, consort of Padmasambhava) said that such things should not be done even at the cost of one's life. In general, there are also differences within the ten non-virtuous actions themselves: killing, divisive speech, harsh speech, and harmful intent lead to hell; sexual misconduct, not

Taking it to heart. Rebirth as a hungry ghost comes from three forms of greed. Rebirth as an animal comes from three things: lying, idle talk, and wrong view. Jomo asked the Teacher: "Secondly, how do I rely on the antidote of acceptance, the ten virtues?" The Teacher said: "The ten virtues have four meanings: First, the essence is the purity of body, speech, and mind that increases higher states. Second, the definition is that when a person who has obtained leisure and opportunity practices properly, it gives the desired result in the mind, so it is called virtue. Third, the divisions are: the virtues that turn away from the ten non-virtues, namely, abandoning killing, giving generously, abiding in celibacy, speaking truthfully, reconciling disputes, speaking gently, speaking honestly, being loving to all beings, being without attachment, and being without doubt about the results of actions and the true meaning. Fourth, there are ten friends who cause these to abide in one's being: namely, having faith in the true Dharma, abiding in knowing shame and having a sense of honor, not gambling and being without disputes, not looking at crowded markets, always acting with mindfulness, being without laziness, not associating with sinful friends, thoroughly taming body, speech, and mind, meditating on the four mindfulnesses, and especially focusing the mind on the noble path. Tsogyal, if you practice in this way, there will be no doubt about the result of higher rebirths." Jomo asked the Teacher: "Thirdly, what are the ten perfections that engage in activity?" The Teacher said: "The perfections that engage in activity have five meanings: First, the general essence is the nature of the path that accomplishes unsurpassed enlightenment. Second, the definition is that it goes to the other shore of the ocean of samsara and goes to the great transcendence. Third, the function is that after perfecting the two accumulations, it strives for the benefit of sentient beings. Fourth, the divisions are of two kinds, general and specific. The general divisions are: the six perfections of generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. The specific divisions are: generosity has three aspects: the generosity of Dharma, the generosity of material things,
