Generosity is excellent! Generosity is excellent! However, the share of generosity is very small. Some people accumulate wealth through business and other means, as well as deception, fraud, and various forms of trickery, which is also a great sin. Therefore, accumulating wealth through various evil deeds such as killing sentient beings, stealing, and robbing is an even greater sin. Accumulating wealth and becoming rich, just being in that state brings great suffering. One must guard against thieves, maintain it, protect it from fire, guard against robbers, worry about it being depleted, worry about it not increasing. If one dies attached to these things, one will be reborn as a hungry ghost. In this world, wealth is most easily squandered by sons. Food and wealth are taken away by sons, and one bears the sin and karmic consequences oneself, falling into the lower realms. If there is no son, all the wealth will be taken away by others. By accumulating hatred, one suffers in this life, and in the next life, there is no escape from the lower realms. It is like a bee accumulating honey. Therefore, those who have wealth should make offerings to the Lama and the Three Jewels. In this life, wealth will increase greatly, and in the next life, one will attain enlightenment. It is like the son of a householder seeking wealth. Jomo asked: How is that? The master said: In the central region of India, there was a householder named Gautama, who possessed great wealth and possessions. He had a son named Nortsol. When the son received his inheritance, he began to manage the household. The son saw many people destroying beehives, people drinking honey, killing bee larvae, some mother bees dying, some fleeing, and some fainting. He felt great compassion for them and thought to himself: My wealth is no different from this. The wealth of enemies and demons is used for flattery and appeasement, just like honey being taken away by others. Therefore, I intend to give in a way that benefits both this life and the next. Fearing that his father would not allow it, he said: Great householder! What is the use of accumulated wealth? When we die, all the wealth will be taken away by others, just like a beehive being emptied by others. We will face an enemy that we cannot defeat. The father said to the son: Where does this enemy come from? The son said: Birth, old age, sickness, and death will appear, white hair and wrinkles will increase, hands and feet will tremble, and life is like a dewdrop, on the verge of death.
