In this degenerate age, few yogis do not fall, and many fall, so it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: In practicing Dharma, the method is very important. The Jomo asked: What is the method? He replied: If you can recognize the innate wisdom that you possess, there is no way not to become a Buddha. If you cling to sects and one-sided views, there is no way to become a Buddha. If you recognize the nature of samsara as a continuous cycle of suffering and turn your mind away from it, there is no way not to be liberated from samsara. If you cannot separate from grasping and being grasped, there is no way not to return to samsara. Because wisdom is not a substance, if you recognize the five poisons as self-liberating, there is no way to go to hell. There are hardly any who possess such qualities, so they wander in samsara for a long time, he said. Guru Padmasambhava said: This Dharma cannot be attained just by doing it. The Jomo asked: How can it be attained? He replied: Giving teachings turns into exaggeration and slander; listening to teachings turns into hope and doubt; being a leader of a gathering turns into attachment to food and drink; practicing meditation turns into dullness and agitation; accumulating merit turns into seeking gain and respect; understanding qualities increases desire; if you associate with many disciples, Dharma practice becomes slow. There are many practitioners who contradict the Dharma in whatever they do, he said. Guru Padmasambhava said: These people who claim to be practitioners are arrogant and self-righteous, so their desires are great. The Jomo asked: How so? He replied: Some see themselves as wise ones who are learned in listening and explaining; some see themselves as virtuous monks who practice Dharma; some see themselves as great meditators who frequent retreats and monasteries; some see themselves as having great power and abilities; when they see desired wealth, they are as greedy as a predator seeing blood; when they see unwanted harm, they retreat like a wild yak being chased away; they are as proud of their own qualities as a peacock seeing its feathers; they are as jealous of others' qualities as a good dog guarding treasure. These self-righteous practitioners only work for the demons of the aggregates. Thus, these ignorances have become the playground of demons, so generate compassion, he said. Guru Padmasambhava said: In practicing Dharma, there are merits and demerits.

It is said that elaboration must be cut off. Jomo asked, "What is that?" The answer: "When the conceptualization of clinging to self is exhausted, there is no Dharma, no sin, no karma and no ripening. As long as the conceptualization of self-clinging is not exhausted, non-virtuous actions will also accumulate and produce results, and virtuous actions will also accumulate and produce results. When conceptualization is exhausted, neither virtue nor sin is accumulated, and no results are produced for anything. At that time, it is the time when the cause is exhausted and the conditions are exhausted, which is called the ultimate truth. In the future time of the five degenerations, some people do not recognize self-clinging and do not stop conceptualization. From whatever afflictions, they make it coarse. They carry views on their mouths and say that practicing the results of virtuous and non-virtuous actions is a low view. They despise the results of karma and say that this is the intention of the Buddha. A part of people will indulge in behavior and act recklessly. Those people will lead both themselves and others astray, which is a wrong practice. Therefore, do not follow those people even for a moment." Like me, Tsogyal, a woman, a foolish person, but because I have long served at the feet of the incarnate teacher, I occasionally hear some teachings of the Dharma, firmly remember them in the unforgetting dharani, and compile them into writing for the benefit of future generations. There is no place to spread them, so I hide them as precious treasures. May I meet those who are destined and have karma. This is called "Questions and Answers on the Teachings," written on the 25th day of the middle autumn month of the Year of the Pig at Chimphu Gewogang. Treasure seal, seal, entrustment seal. Namo Guru! Guru Rinpoche said: Tsogyal, when practicing Dharma, if you meditate in distracting places such as villages, royal palaces, monastic dwellings, and gatherings of people, your mind will be carried away by distraction and you will not want to stay there. If you are attached to villages, good houses, retinues, and possessions, your life will be exhausted without you realizing it. At the time of death, you will be bound by attachment and be born as a hungry ghost wandering in the sky, harming the retinues and possessions to which you are attached. If you are attached to houses, you will be born as a creature in the foundation of the wall. Therefore, if you practice Dharma, you should live like a lion on a snow mountain, in steep cliffs, snow mountains, and forests.
