If one recognizes that the emptiness of unformed conceptual thought is self-luminous, then, this is the key to sentient beings being pure as Buddhas in their own place. Very important, I entrust it to you, Tsogyal! Jokmo asked Master Padmasambhava: What is the boundary between samsara and nirvana? Master Padmasambhava said: Samsara is called the cycle from one to another. Nirvana is called cutting the shackles of samsara. When it is applied to the continuum, because one sees one's own mind nature, this basis is not stained by the faults of things, but is unborn and self-arisen, so there is no place for samsara. Because samsara is pure from the beginning, enlightenment is called nirvana. The key is that samsara is pure in itself in nirvana. Very important, I entrust it to you, Tsogyal! Jokmo asked Master Padmasambhava: What is the boundary between ignorance and wisdom? Master Padmasambhava said: Ignorance is called not knowing the things of the mind. Wisdom is called seeing the things of the mind. When it is applied to the continuum, by looking at the reality of the meaning of the things of one's own mind, clear and distinct, seeing the mind in this way, ignorance is pure in itself. Very important, I entrust it to you, Tsogyal! Jokmo asked the Master: What is the boundary between mind and mind nature? Master Padmasambhava said: Mind is called manifest action and memory. Mind nature is called without memory and without attention. When it is applied to the continuum of practice, cut off the flow of the mind's conceptual thoughts, and rest in its own nature without modification, not paying attention to anything, clear and distinct, this is called the key to the purity of mind nature in itself. Very important, I entrust it to you, Tsogyal! Jokmo asked the Master: What is the boundary between the alaya and the appearance of the alaya? Master Padmasambhava said: The alaya is called the basis of all conceptual thoughts, meaning that the dharmakaya is mixed, and it is the container of good and bad habits. The appearance of the alaya is the mind that arises from the alaya and appears as memory and awareness. When practicing it, for the reality of the basis of things that is not disturbed by the memory of the mind, clear and distinct, abiding without conceptualization, that alone is the basis of the meaning of the alaya and consciousness and things.

Through understanding, the key to purifying oneself in the Dharmakaya. Extremely important, entrusted to you, Tsogyal. The teacher asked the Jomo: What is the boundary between mind and the consciousness of mind? The teacher said: What is called mind is the basis of all memory. What is called the consciousness of mind is the wind that moves it, remembering what is not remembered. When practicing this on the continuum, the mind has no memory and is not established in any essence. It is not moved by the moving wind. Like a lamp not moved by the wind, it is clear and without thought. This is called the key to the self-illuminating purity of the consciousness of mind in its own nature. Extremely important, entrusted to you, Tsogyal. The teacher asked the Jomo: What is the boundary between ultimate truth and conventional truth? The teacher said: What is called ultimate truth is that which has not become the object of the mind. What is called conventional truth is that which appears unhindered in anything in the deluded nature of the mind. When practicing this on the continuum, looking at conventional truth, conventional truth appears without being established as an object of the mind, yet emptiness is not established in anything. In that very nature, the key to the self-purification of conventional truth into ultimate truth. Extremely important, entrusted to you, Tsogyal. The teacher asked the Jomo: What is the boundary between the other shore and this shore? The teacher said: What is called the other shore is that which transcends samsara. What is called this shore is the dharma of samsara. When practicing this on the continuum, looking at this self-continuum of mind, there is nothing at all, and there is nothing to be done by the mind. It is clear and pure. This is called going to the other shore. The key to the purification of this shore into the other shore. Extremely important, entrusted to you, Tsogyal. The teacher asked the Jomo: What is the boundary between ignorance and wisdom? The teacher said: What is called ignorance is the thick obscuration of the mind, not understanding anything. What is called wisdom is the clear suchness of reality. When practicing this on the continuum, looking at the mind that does not understand or know, the discrimination of knowing and not knowing does not enter the mind. It is not established in any essence, clear and unobscured. This is ignorance.
