Enlightenment is attained through faith in the teachings, oral instructions, and the experience of self-awareness. That is, if one cultivates with deep conviction in one's mind, the experiential understanding will become clear. This means that the body becomes light and clear, one can see hidden things, small thoughts arise, and so on. One should cultivate without attachment or expectation. Therefore, even if the heat sign arises naturally, do not encourage it with delight, otherwise it will not arise again, so it is said. Jomo asked the teacher: How can one eliminate wrong paths and the extremes of clinging? The teacher said: Do not follow the traces of the nine kinds of clinging and the eight kinds of clinging. Do not follow the nine vehicles, the six realms, and the eternalist and annihilationist views of the non-Buddhists. When a yogi is cultivating, do not cling to the idea that the object and the mind are separate. Do not deny dependent origination, do not cultivate emptiness, do not cultivate duality, and so on. That is, the nine vehicles are transformed by philosophical tenets, the six realms do not transform appearances, and the philosophical tenets are not self-approved. The eternalist and annihilationist views of the non-Buddhists are inverted clinging. If one does not follow these and arises without bias or limitation, that is the nature of reality, so it is said. Jomo asked the teacher: What is the key to naturally abandoning attachment? The teacher said: Appearances are self-appearing, without clinging, naturally liberated. Appearances are the play of one's own bodhicitta. Even so, attachment and clinging to the object of non-existence occur because thoughts dissolve into the dharmadhatu, and attachment will naturally fall away. Appearances are self-appearing, emptiness is self-empty, and attachment to them is as pure as the sky, so it is said. Jomo asked the teacher: How are the differences between the nine vehicles distinguished? The teacher said: The differences between the nine vehicles are distinguished by the presence or absence of nine desires. 1. That is, for those who believe that the object and the mind are separate, the object is composed of subtle particles, and subtle particles are considered to be real, this is the philosophical tenet of the Shravakas. 2. External objects are illusions, and illusions are dependent origination, so they are not real, and the consciousness that clings to them is real, this is what the Pratyekabuddhas acknowledge. 3. The Madhyamikas believe that dependent origination is emptiness, and emptiness is free from conceptual elaboration. 4. The three outer tantras believe that ultimate reality is emptiness, and in relative truth, they accomplish it through the purity of the three families. 5. High view, low conduct.
