When a yogi is in samadhi, he should place his awareness in a stable state, remain without effort, contemplate the meaning of the lower vehicle, remain as if collecting the merits of the lower vehicle, and remain with the intention of the Buddha even while remaining in samsara. 2. Remain like a bird entering its nest. Just as a bird enters its nest without calculation, so should a yogi remain without calculation in the meaning of realization. 3. Remain like a person who has given up his affairs. Just as his mind remains without alteration, so should a yogi leave his mind as it is, without alteration, change, or corruption, he said. Jomo asked the master: How many methods are there for generating Bodhicitta? The master replied: There are three methods for generating it. 1. Generate it like taming a wild horse. Just as a horse is tamed without distraction, so should a yogi remain in the meaning of seeing everything without distraction. 2. Generate it like guarding a treasure mine. Just as thieves cannot succeed if no harm is done, so should a yogi remain without being overcome by dullness and agitation if he does not make an effort to abandon samadhi. 3. Generate it like guarding a queen. Just as all the people are under the rule of the king, and no one can harm the queen, so should a yogi realize that all dharmas are manifestations of the mind, and remain without being harmed by thoughts. Jomo asked the master: How many methods are there for counteracting Bodhicitta? The master replied: There are three methods for counteracting it. 1. Counteract it like a thief in an empty house. Just as a thief returns because there is nothing to steal in an empty house, so should a yogi remain when coarse and subtle thoughts arise, without finding anything after examining and analyzing them. 2. Counteract it like a cloud in the sky. Just as a cloud that arises in the sky disappears on its own, remain in the self-extinction of thoughts. 3. Counteract it like using a mantra to counteract poison. Just as a person who possesses a mantra cannot be harmed by poison, so should a yogi who possesses the key points remain, because he has grasped the essence of the view, and everything will appear as wisdom. Jomo asked the master: What is the measure of Dharmata? The master replied: There are three ways to indicate its measure: 1. Clear

Like a sesame oil lamp that is not moved by the wind. 2. The degree of immovability is like the water at the bottom of the ocean. 3. The degree of being soft and gentle is like the petals of a cotton tree, he said. Chom asked the master: What is the measure of the heat sign? The master said: There are three. The outer heat sign is that the body does not feel its existence, the inner sign is that afflictions do not arise, and the secret heat sign is that it does not fixate on any object, he said. Chom asked the master: How is the fruit obtained? The master said: The yogi who possesses the nature of the three bodies and four wisdoms obtains it as soon as he is free from the bondage of the body. Chom asked the master: How does a person of superior faculty determine the view? The master said: Determine the view of wisdom by the example of the nine spheres of mind. 1. All dharmas are like the precious sphere of mind, without partiality. 2. The mind is an unconditioned sphere, like a vajra that does not change. 3. The mind is a sphere without characteristics, like a dark fog, whose essence cannot be seen. 4. The sphere in which images appear in the mind is like an image falling into the ocean, which cannot be identified. 5. The sphere in which the mind pervades everything is as vast as the sky. 6. The sphere in which there is nothing that is not mind is like the image of silk, in which whatever appears is inseparable from the mind. 7. The sphere in which the mind is inherently Buddha is like the son of a king, who is not doubted by others. 8. The sphere in which whatever appears from the mind appears, like a sapphire (藏文:ནོར་བུ་ཨིནྡྲ་ནཱི་ལ་,梵文天城体:इन्द्रनील,梵文罗马音:indranīla,汉语字面意思:因陀罗青), appears in any way. 9. The sphere in which the mind does not change is like precious gold, which does not change from the nature of mind wherever it is. Since everything is gathered in the mind, determine it by the nine spheres, he said. Chom asked the master: How should the extremes of behavior be abandoned? The master said: The extremes of behavior should be abandoned by the example of enjoying without attachment. In the clear ocean, enjoy the images by means of method; in the clear sky, enjoy the constellations by means of method; when bodhicitta arises, enjoy the appearances of existence by means of method. Even if one enjoys the five desirable qualities, if one is grasped by the view, one will not be stained by faults, he said. Chom asked the master: How should one equally abide in the inten
