Without what? The very essence of the entirely pure Dharmakaya, The very nature of inseparable self-appearance, Awareness pacifies in the nature of reality, The supreme fruit without attainment, Arising from itself and attained from itself. Thus it is said. If it is not like that, and it is believed that the fruit, the Buddha, is accomplished separately, then it is the common vehicle, and liberation is not taught. If one understands such meaning and comprehends it, it is said that all fruits are comprehended in the key points. The combined intention of all Buddhas, these twenty-one key instructions, I, the Queen of the Lake, hid for the sake of future generations. When encountering one with karma and fortune, if spread too much, the accomplishments will decline. The nature of treasure is secret and gradually used. The twenty-one key instructions are complete. Treasure seal. Hidden seal. Entrusted seal. KAM NAMO GURU! The section on the precious golden rosary of meditation instructions. The great teacher Padmasambhava, whose body is unchanging like the sun, whose speech is uninterrupted like a river, whose mind is unobstructed like the sky, whose qualities are without increase or decrease like a river, whose activities are unimpeded like the wind, whose intention is equal to the Buddhas, who teaches the Dharma in accordance with the six types of beings, who is famous in Jambudvipa as an emanation body like the sun, Jomo Kharchenza served him. When he was sitting on a cushion of pearls and crystal, she pleased him with her body, speech, and mind and asked: Great Teacher, what is the order of actions to be done for the sake of meditation by a faithful person who wishes to meditate? The Teacher said: The order of actions to be done for the sake of meditation is to accumulate accumulations, hold the instructions, cut off worldly affairs, gather favorable conditions, then clean the place, adjust the breath to be of moderate size, and with the mind of compassion and bodhichitta, vow to establish all sentient beings in bodhi. There, spread a loose cotton cushion and so on, discard bodily waste, urine, phlegm, and so on, sit in the vajra posture, place the hands in equipoise, straighten the body, keep the head without tilting, lower the eyes to the tip of the nose, keep the teeth and lips natural, and in general, relax the three doors and meditate. Jomo asked the Teacher: What is the method of placing the mind during meditation? The Teacher said:

During meditation, relax the body and mind. Since all phenomena are beyond analysis, cut off the continuity of mind and mental events. Do not specifically suppress them. Abandon all grasping and fixation, do not conceptualize anything, do not think about anything. Clearly rest in your own natural state, without wavering, in genuine naturalness. Therefore, at that time, since you do not see the knower and the known as separate, do not examine external objects. Do not examine inwards with the knower. Do not examine as neither of the two. Do not cast away external objects. Do not block thoughts from arising inwards, so that the mind itself is clear and bright, resting without abiding in anything. The faults that are incompatible with this are agitation, dullness, and clinging. Agitation is when the mind wanders to objects. The remedy for this is: relax the body and mind and rest in samadhi. Rest again and again. If various thoughts still follow and wander, then repeatedly follow the awareness that is wandering. If that still doesn't work and it continues to wander, then examine where the wandering, like clouds in the sky, comes from, where it wanders, and how it stays, and rest in self-arising, self-liberation. Since thoughts themselves are empty, it doesn't matter if they wander intermittently. There is no need to specifically suppress thoughts. It is said that this is the instruction for gathering agitation and wandering. Dullness is like entering a dark cave, or like closing your eyes. The remedy for this is to clear it with physical activity, such as Dharma practice and physical exercises. To clear it with samadhi is to meditate on oneself as the sky, to meditate on the spine stacked like a wheel, and to meditate on awareness as the sky. To clear it with instructions is to meditate by following objects, and to make the senses sharp. It is said that this is the instruction for clearing dullness. Stupor is when the mind enters a state of confusion, or when awareness becomes mixed and blurred without memory. Then, do not meditate, but rest, and meditate later. It is said that this is the instruction for abandoning dullness. The fault of clinging is: when meditating on the nature of reality, it is a fault if you cling to the idea of meditating without focusing on or grasping anything. Not to mention incompatible thoughts such as existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation, as well as thoughts of antidotes and what to accept and reject, even thinking, "All things are appearances without inherent existence," or thinking, "This thing is inconceivable, therefore I do not focus on it."
