The essence of all appearances and existence is gathered in the sky. The four elements are all changing and impermanent. However, the nature of the sky is empty and unchanging from the very beginning. The elements of earth, water, fire, and wind are the nature of change. Even when they arise, they arise from the nature of the sky. Even when they abide, they abide in the nature of the sky. Even when they dissolve, they dissolve into that nature. Because the nature of the sky does not change in the three times, all appearances and existence are gathered into the nature of the sky. For example, like the sky, the meaning is like the Dharmata-sky, empty from the very beginning. The sign is like the emptiness of mind itself, like the sky. Even when habits and afflictions arise like clouds and vapors, they arise from the emptiness of mind itself. Even when they abide, they abide in the nature of the emptiness of mind. Even when they dissolve, they dissolve into the nature of the emptiness of mind. When one realizes this, one is not stained by the faults of karma and afflictive habits. This is called realizing the essence of all phenomena of appearances and existence. Thus he spoke. Then Jomo asked the teacher: Where is the essence of the eighty-four thousand gates of Dharma gathered? The teacher replied: The essence of the eighty-four thousand gates of Dharma is gathered in the great bliss of Dharmata. Other dharmas are changing and impermanent. The great bliss of Dharmata is spontaneously accomplished from the beginning, without effort or seeking. It is in an uncorrected state, self-arising and self-illuminating, gathered in a state without elaboration. The eighty-four thousand gates of Dharma of other vehicles, even when they arise, arise from the nature of the great bliss of Dharmata. Even when they abide, they abide in the nature of the great bliss of Dharmata. Even when they dissolve, they dissolve into the nature of the great bliss of Dharmata. No matter how phenomena change, no matter how words are spoken, no matter how the wise explain, the meaning of the great bliss of Dharmata does not change. Therefore, the essence of all dharmas is to rest in equanimity without seeking the great bliss of Dharmata. This is the essence of the eighty-four thousand gates of Dharma. Thus he spoke. Then Jomo asked the teacher: Where is the essence of all sentient beings gathered? The teacher replied: The essence of all sentient beings is gathered in the Bodhicitta. Other forms and consciousness are changing and impermanent. The four kinds of sentient beings, even when they first arise, wander in samsara as sentient beings because they have not realized the mind. That mind, which is unborn, pure from the beginning, the self-arising awareness, the cognizing

Just on the ground, one finds the Buddha himself. The nature of mind, at the time of realization, without seeking the mind, one becomes enlightened in the state of equanimity. The essence of Bodhicitta is unchanging in the three times, therefore, all sentient beings become Buddhas. The essence of the Sugata, the Buddha dwells pervading all, therefore, realizing the mind of Bodhi is crucial. Realizing it is called all sentient beings grasping the essential point, thus he said. Jowo asked the master: Where does the essence of all wisdom gather? The master said: The essence of all wisdom is self-originated wisdom. Other wisdoms are changing and impermanent. Self-originated wisdom is self-originated from the beginning, and the meaning of Dharmata is self-luminous and impartially abiding. Self-originated wisdom is such that there is nothing it does not know, nothing it does not see, and nothing it does not realize. Therefore, self-originated wisdom is clear and its essence is unexaminable, it is the root of all Dharma and wisdom, and it is also the place of abiding. Therefore, all wisdoms gather in its state, which is called grasping the essential point, thus he said. Jowo asked the master: Where does the essence of all samadhis gather? The master said: The essence of all samadhis is the samadhi of Suchness. All other samadhis are changing and impermanent. The samadhi of Suchness is: the essence of the meaning of Dharmata is without error, the meaning of Thusness is without fabrication, the essence of the meaning itself reaches the ultimate point, that alone is the samadhi of Suchness. In the state of emptiness, there is no samadhi that does not gather, all gather in its state. However numerous the categories of Dharma may be beyond imagination, in the state of emptiness and Thusness that is unsearchable, there is no intention of all Buddhas that does not gather. Therefore, all samadhis are called grasping the essential point, thus he said. Jowo asked the master: Where does the essence of all places gather? The master said: The essence of all places is the immutable Dharmadhatu. All other places are impermanent. Sentient beings who have not realized the meaning of the immutability of Dharmata will be transformed into places, times, Dharmas, conditions, actions, and thoughts. That Dharmata is condition and
