Thus I contemplate. The five sense consciousnesses are like a son; just as he seizes wealth, so does consciousness generate various forms of attachment and aversion towards objects, and in turn, it is seized. The body consciousness is like a bride; just as she enjoys wealth, she looks at the five desirable qualities and enjoys experiencing them. This demonstrates the nature of delusion. Now, to turn away from that delusion: the alaya consciousness is the dharmadhatu; it is unestablished in any way, like the sky, and abides in one's own continuum. Without being grasped by the afflicted mind, it is released, and by abiding without effort, one's own conceptual thoughts and dualistic mind do not arise. Because the mind consciousness does not cut off outwardly, and the objects of the five senses are not grasped as characteristics, it is clear and non-conceptual, and that is wisdom. That is called the dharmakaya, the single bindu. It is called self-originated wisdom. By practicing that, this appearance, though appearing, is without inherent existence, like a moon in water, or like a reflection, or like an illusion, or like a dream, its essence is unestablished in any way, and the experience of emptiness arises. At that time, delusion appears as wisdom. When a yogi is accustomed to that, at the time of being free from matter and awareness, the alaya consciousness transforms into the dharmakaya, and dawns as the wisdom of the dharmadhatu; the five sense consciousnesses appear as mirror-like wisdom; the mind consciousness dawns as discriminating wisdom; the afflicted mind dawns as the wisdom of equanimity; the body consciousness transforms into a body of light and dawns as the two rupakayas; and the accomplishing wisdom benefits sentient beings. That dharmakaya is like the sky, transcending shape, color, and expression. The sambhogakaya abides in the Akanishtha dharmadhatu, possessing marks and signs, holding the form of the five buddha families, appearing to the bodhisattvas, and teaching the dharma. The nirmanakaya transforms into the six teachers, according to whatever sentient beings need to be tamed, and appears in the manner of taming whatever beings need to be tamed. Such three kayas are also one svabhavikakaya; having realized the essence of mind, the dharmadhatu, and having arisen from stable meditation, it is called a buddha whose continuum is completely purified. At the time of seeing those three kayas, it is seeing from below, and obtaining

At that time, unsurpassed accomplishment was attained. Those are the teachings on how the delusion of those with inferior faculties is reversed and liberated, so it was said. This instruction that cuts delusion from its root, entrust it to you, Kharchen Tso Gyal Those who are vessels and have fortune are extremely rare, bury it as a precious treasure. At the end of time, open the door to the treasure, entrust it to one who has karma and fortune. Thus he instructed. The reply to the request for cutting the root of delusion, was written down on the third day of the middle autumn month, in Yangden of Chimpu. Treasure seal, concealment seal, entrustment seal. When the great teacher Padmasambhava was residing in Samye, a person named Ngok Sherab Gyalpo, sixty-one years of age, who had not heard the Dharma, was the best of those with faith, and had great devotion to the teacher. In the secluded place of Drakpo Che, he served the teacher for one year. Ngok did not request the Dharma, and the teacher did not teach the Dharma. After one year, when the teacher intended to leave, Ngok offered a mandala with flowers made of one sang of gold to the teacher and requested: Great teacher, please have compassion on me. Firstly, I have little hearing; secondly, I have little wisdom; thirdly, I am old and my elements are decaying. Please, great teacher, grant me Dharma that is easy to understand, that cuts through inner and outer additions, that is easy to realize, that has great view, that is easy to practice, that benefits the next life, Dharma for an old man at the time of death. Then the teacher pointed his staff at the old man's heart and gave the following instruction: Listen, old man, look at this self-aware bodhicitta. It is not formed into shape and color, it is not formed into edge and center, initially there is no place of arising, it is emptiness; in the middle there is no place of dwelling, it is emptiness; finally there is no place of going, it is emptiness. In emptiness, nothing is formed, but there is something clear and lucid, if you see and recognize it, it is recognizing yourself, it is understanding the nature of Dharma, it is seeing the nature of mind, it is determining the true nature of things, it is cutting through the additions of knowable objects, the awareness bodhicitta is not formed into anything, therefore it abides in itself, it cannot be sought from elsewhere, therefore it is easy to realize the meaning of Dharma nature, in the meaning of mind nature there is no object of grasping and being grasped, it cuts through the extremes of permanence and annihilation.
