This is the instruction. For example, a mother has only one son. After the son's father dies, the mother remarries. The son wanders around and later meets his mother. The mother recognizes her son, and the son recognizes his mother. Similarly, when realizing the meaning of the nature of reality, the two, Buddha and sentient beings; the two, samsara and nirvana; the two, appearance and emptiness, are inherently without difference. Recognizing that the nature of reality is the single bindu, and deciding without doubt, this is the instruction of recognizing the bindu in the bardo of the naturally abiding, and is the instruction of the orphan meeting his mother. The female disciple asked the master: Please explain, what is it like to make the unclear clear, like a beautiful woman looking in a mirror, in the bardo of samadhi? The master said: Making the unclear clear, like a beautiful woman looking in a mirror, is the instruction of meditation. For example, just as a beautiful woman looks in the mirror at three times, the yogi must also look at and meditate on the mind at three times. Among these, there are two ways of sitting the body and abiding the mind. First, when meditating in sessions, sit the body upright, sit in the vajra posture, bend the neck slightly, lower the eyes to the tip of the nose, touch the tongue to the palate, place the hands on the knees, and combine with the conduct of walking, standing, lying, and sitting. Second, the way to abide the mind is: the great abiding of non-abiding. In the state of realizing the view, let the senses relax naturally. Leave the body and mind uncorrected, clear and without attachment. Leave the dharmakaya clear and without clinging to the dharmakaya. Meditate correctly, meditate for a long time, meditate continuously, and meditate with reverence. What is correct is that in the state of realizing the view, when meditating clearly there, if the mind of clinging does not arise, then that is the intention of the unchanging equality. Being clear there is being clear in bliss, being clear in wisdom, being clear in non-conceptual awareness, and being clear in the play of wisdom. There is no clinging to bliss, no clinging to wisdom, no clinging to non-conceptual awareness, and no clinging to the play of wisdom. This non-clinging awareness arises naturally without attachment. The enemies of meditating in this way are: sinking and excitement, and permanence and annihilation, these are four. If sinking occurs, do not pay attention to the sinking itself, transform sinking and dullness into the dharmakaya.

It is called the "Mas Ngak" instruction. If that doesn't happen, then meditate on elevating awareness. Distraction is doubting distraction, and the distraction itself, thinking of pulling it back, and thinking of staying without distraction, and so on. If you know that distraction is your own mind, then distraction expands into dharmata. Because you don't see the cause of distraction, the cause of prevention, the cause of abiding, and the cause of purification, understanding that itself as self is called raising conceptualization into dharmata. That is the method of subduing thoughts. If you don't understand it that way, it is called the instruction of gathering scattering, which is to abide and meditate in the unaltered nature of mind itself. Also, four places of loss occur in meditation: it is called loss into coarse thoughts, which is losing mind without mindfulness. Loss into the dullness of calm abiding, which is awareness being dull and the meaning of dharmata not being clear. What is called awareness lost into sensation is wanting to grasp without letting go. What is called the thought itself completely lost is knowing and drawing it inward and staying. Those are the four places of loss. Eliminating faults is not putting awareness in the wrong place, not staying permanently, but the expansion of the nature of emptiness itself, not falling into annihilation, but being clear and uninterrupted. Being awake and without hindrance, because oneself abides in the dharmakaya. Not doubting samsara, because samsara is liberated in the dharmakaya. Raise thoughts into wisdom, and as soon as suffering arises as wisdom, there is no need to purify, so it is said. If you know how to meditate like that, it is not inverted. On that, meditate by prolonging the time, and meditate by generating devotion without interruption. By meditating like that, the habitual tendencies of previous attachments will decrease. Through the power of meditation, the feeling of clarity, bliss, and bodilessness will arise. If you don't meditate, you won't be able to stop sudden confused thoughts, and you won't be able to stop the habitual tendencies of previous attachments. Therefore, just as a large banner is not moved by the wind, meditate steadily without awareness separating from dharmata. Also, just as a beautiful woman looks in a mirror to see what flaws there are in her appearance, examine the meaning of seeing and acting with samadhi, scrutinizing what faults there are such as sinking and excitement, and always meditate, so it is said. That is the instruction of meditating in the bardo of samadhi, so it is said. Jomo asked the master: In the bardo of dreams, what is the connection of habitual tendencies like the flow of a river? The master replied: That is the conduct of...
