It has become self-liberated. Blessings arise spontaneously, and power arises in body and speech. It can cut through afflictions and bad circumstances like hail. If one is not deceived by disease, evil spirits, and demons, then one has obtained the blessings of the Dharma, which is an intermediate sign. If one is separated from the eight worldly concerns and liberated from self-grasping, that is an external sign. In short, if the holder of the Dharma is not good, then definite understanding will not arise. Therefore, one should rely on the lineage of lamas and accomplished beings without interruption, so it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: Profound instructions do not have texts. Jo-mo asked: What does that mean? He replied: If one does not perceive the instructions, even a single word, a special lama, bestows it upon a fortunate disciple and takes it into their hands, then definite understanding arises, so it is said. Tso-gyal said: One's own mind is unborn, empty, clear, and pervades everything, so practice it continuously. In short, if the holder of the Dharma is good, then the instructions are available wherever you turn, so it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: Whatever Dharma you do, if it does not go for the benefit of sentient beings, then you will go to the cessation of the Hearers. Jo-mo asked: How does one go? He replied: At the time of practicing the instructions, one practices the intention of the Buddha for the benefit of all sentient beings. Because of the uncommon Great Vehicle, one accomplishes the benefit of others. If one only desires peace and happiness for oneself, that is the Small Vehicle. In short, if one only desires happiness for oneself, then happiness will not come, so it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: If one does not seize it with compassion without object, then all the roots of virtue that have been done will be wasted. Jo-mo asked: What does that mean? He replied: The root of virtue with object is not able to increase and will be exhausted. If it is seized by dedication without object, then the root of virtue will not be exhausted and is the main cause of unsurpassed enlightenment. What is without object? One does not fixate on self, one does not fixate on others, one does not fixate on the root of virtue, give it away in emptiness. In short, that virtue with arrogance is a perverted dedication, so it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: One root of virtue with skillful means overcomes others. Jo-mo asked: What is that? He replied: If one obtains expertise in all instructions and puts them into practice, then studies that true meaning, and seals it with dedication without object, then one overcomes the fixation on objects, and the root of virtue increases from whatever Dharma one practices.

It is. In general, it is said that in order for the root of virtue to truly grow, it needs to be without attachment and without seeking. The words of Guru Rinpoche: It is said that if you associate with a friend who has three harmonies, obstacles and demons cannot penetrate. Jomo asked what that was. He replied: In order to pray to the harmonious and qualified lama, meditate on the crown of your head. Associate with harmonious friends who practice the Dharma with the same vows. Practice the harmonious instructions by relying on the instructions that the lama practitioner has obtained through practice. If you do not leave these three, obstacles will not be able to penetrate. In general, it is said that if you take your own mind as a witness, everything will be fine. The words of Guru Rinpoche: To practice the Dharma, you must first have a good foundation. Jomo asked how to do this. He replied: First, if you do not accumulate merit, you will not meet a lama with instructions. If you do not have the karma of previous practice, you will not understand the Dharma. If you do not have special faith and respect, you will not understand the qualities of the lama. If you do not have vows and commitments, the root of the Dharma will be weakened. If you are not guided by the instructions of the oral teachings, you will not know how to meditate. If you do not have diligence and effort, you will not be able to enter the path of virtue. If you do not have renunciation from samsara, you will not be able to complete the Dharma. If all of these are complete, the Dharma will come, and if you abandon what should be abandoned, you will achieve what should be achieved. In general, this Dharma needs many causes and conditions to come together, so it is said that there are few cases where the Dharma is truly accomplished according to the scriptures. The words of Guru Rinpoche: It is not enough to just know the Dharma, you must practice it, it is said. Jomo asked how to practice it. He replied: By broadening the scope of your view, you will not be biased towards the Dharma. By grasping the key points of meditation, you can integrate the meaning of all the Dharmas into your mind. By opening the entrance to conduct, you can ensure that your view and conduct do not contradict each other. By having confidence in the result, you can make samsara and nirvana equal in the nature of reality. By knowing the boundaries of protecting your vows, you can protect the three vows. If you practice in this way, there will be no mistakes in the Dharma. In general, it is said that the Dharma only stays on the lips and does not enter the heart, and there are many cases where there is no practice. The words of Guru Rinpoche: In the future, there will be many people who claim to be practitioners, but they have not liberated themselves and want to explain it to others. They have not meditated themselves, but they encourage others to meditate. They have not liberated themselves, but they pretend to be liberated. They have not separated themselves from desire, but they encourage others to renounce.
