Settle on the ground, make it stable, and make the deity appear completely. Jomo asked the master: How to make the deity appear for a suitable length of time? The master replied: After obtaining the appearance as before, stabilize it slightly and make it last longer. The recitation and the duration of a session: based on the duration of a session of breathing, the external session time is calculated in hours. There are also sessions that last a day, that is, four sessions each day and night, depending on the situation. The need for a session is: not to disturb the channels, to grasp the amount of practice, to increase samadhi, and to stay for a long time. The number is not counted by mouth, but by holding the rosary in mind. Then gradually increase, and do not rest until that number is reached, practice between that number. The time of the shadow: it is said that there are six, sixteen or eight sessions a day, practice between each part of the shadow moving, rest for about that time. In short, know that practicing eight sessions and resting eight sessions are alternated. Then gradually lengthen the stability and short sessions, and then you can stay in the sun, day and night, and half a month. In short, no matter how a session is, do not be bored, and slowly prolong in a clear, non-discriminatory, and non-scattered state. This is the key to making the deity appear for a long time. Jomo asked the master: How to correct the faults of changes in deity practice? The master taught: There are two ways to recognize faults and correct them. Recognizing faults has two types: common faults and special faults. First, the common faults: forgetting the object, laziness, doubt, sinking, agitation, fabrication, non-fabrication. Among them, forgetting the object is distraction during practice. Laziness is putting it in slackness. Doubt is the fear of falling into a wrong path. Sinking is sinking caused by conditions and sinking caused by nature. Agitation is agitation caused by nature, agitation caused by conditions, and agitation deliberately caused. Fabrication is that at the same time as the deity appears, one does not know how to be satisfied and continues to appear, but instead generates discrimination. Non-fabrication is not abandoning the deity but having no intention of practicing. The second is the special fault, that is, the fault of being blurred when practicing the deity, and the head...

The end reversing, and shadows, and the body's size changing, and the attire changing, and the shape changing, and the number changing, and the posture changing, and the body color changing, and only color appearing, and only shape appearing, and sitting sideways, and gradually disappearing, there are twelve faults in total. Therefore, to correct these faults, the method shown is: For the seven common faults, rely on the eighth activity of abandoning; for forgetting the object, rely on mindfulness; for the antidote to laziness, rely on faith and diligence; for the antidote to doubt, rely on non-discrimination; for the antidote to sinking, generate joy, bathe, and relax the body; if agitated, generate weariness with samsara; tie the mind with the rope of mindfulness and attach it to the trunk of the object. In short, for sinking and agitation, rely on the guard of awareness; if you want to strive, rely on equanimity; if you don't strive, then clearly illuminate with diligence. In particular, correcting the faults of the deity, for the three appearances of being blurry, dim, and like a shadow, after meditating on emptiness and non-discrimination, carefully observe the painted image of the deity and meditate. That is, alternate meditating on non-discrimination and looking at the painted image of the deity. For the body size changing, and the attire changing, and the posture changing, and the shape changing, contemplate that the deity is substantial, with pigeons entering and exiting from the nostrils, and birds, sheep, and wild animals playing on the limbs, like patterns on a wall. For the number changing, first contemplate one or two, or as if the number is cut off. For only color appearing, then clarify the shape. For the color changing to yellow or red, etc., due to the heat of the humors such as blood and bile, perform a ritual to harmonize the humors. If gradually disappearing, then clearly focus on the face and hands. For the fault of incompleteness, clearly contemplate the deity as completely perfect, with ornaments and attire complete. Or clearly contemplate whatever part is incomplete. In short, whatever fault arises, do not be satisfied with it, but meditate. Then, after realizing emptiness, look at the deity's body and focus the mind to meditate. The teacher asked Jomo: If you want to separate from the deity, how should you practice? The teacher said: The key to separating from the deity is: Before eliminating those faults of meditating on the deity, meditating on non-discrimination will make the deity clearer, so alternate meditating on the deity and non-
