If you practice these four, you will not be interrupted in this life or the next, and you will be able to rest in the great yoga in the bardo, and the deity's body will become the great seal. If you have not mastered the skill of the generation stage, you will be able to rest in the great yoga in the next life and become a vidyadhara of the great seal. These are for the sake of the dull-witted lower beings, and are instructions on the stages of the gradual path of meditation. Teacher, Jomo asked: How does a person of superior faculties practice? The teacher said: A person of superior faculties meditates on the deity, not generating it gradually, but merely through the expression of the essence or words, like a bubble bursting, it appears spontaneously in an instant. Inviting from the deity's realm is also the same, appearing as oneself as the deity, that is the realm; the deity appears but has no self-nature, that is wisdom; the realm and wisdom are non-dual, therefore it appears as the deity without ceasing in the conventional. The essence of the deity without self-nature is emptiness, that is the ultimate truth. Thus, the conventional truth and the ultimate truth are non-dual. Appearing as the father aspect of the deity is method; Appearing as the mother aspect of the deity is wisdom; method and wisdom are non-dual. Appearing as the deity is bliss; the deity without self-nature is emptiness; bliss and emptiness are non-dual. The deity appearing as the deity is awareness; the deity appearing without self-nature is emptiness; awareness and emptiness are non-dual. The deity appearing as the deity is clarity; the deity without self-nature is emptiness; clarity and emptiness are non-dual. Therefore, appearing as the deity is the body, appearing without self-nature, therefore there is no old age; speech has no obstruction, therefore the essence is not interrupted; mind has no birth or death, therefore the dharma nature is not interrupted; in the four behaviors of walking, standing, sitting, and lying down, appearing without separating from these, this is the path of the person of superior faculties. The teacher said: This is very difficult, it is the realm of those who have karmic connections from previous lives. Jomo asked the teacher: When practicing the deity, first please teach the key to how to settle the mind on the deity. The teacher said: First is the oral instruction for making the deity appear, you can practice in front, or you can obtain the oral instruction of the teacher, the teacher blesses the disciple and performs protection, then sit on a comfortable seat and keep the body balanced, place the painted image of the deity in front

After properly arranging, abide for a moment without thinking of anything. Then look at the deity's form from head to toe, and then look gradually from toe to head. Then look at the entire form pervadingly, and occasionally rest by placing your mind in non-conceptuality. In this way, look repeatedly as if it were a single day, and then sleep soundly at night. When dawn breaks, look again as before, and at night, when not meditating on the deity, place your mind in non-conceptuality. Then, without meditating, the deity arises clearly in your mind. Even if it doesn't arise, look at the form and close your eyes, making that very image clear in front of you, and abide without your mind straying from its previous state. If it is not clear, then look at the image and make it clear, cutting off the flow of conceptual thoughts and abide. Having meditated in this way, there are five experiences: the experience of wavering, the experience of attainment, the experience of habituation, the experience of stability, and the experience of completion. That is, at that time, the mind does not want to abide, and the activities of conceptual thought flow abundantly, this is the experience of wavering. This is when the mind is close to being seized, like water on a steep cliff. Then, the deity appears slightly clear, and the deity's shape and color appear clearly at the same time, this is the experience of attainment, like a pond. Having appeared clearly in this way, it is clear whether you meditate at a distance or near, and you can abide for about half of one-third of a session, and coarse conceptual thoughts do not move, this is the experience of habituation, like a river. In this way, conceptual thoughts are not clear, but the deity appears clearly, and you are able to prolong the session, this is the experience of stability, like Mount Meru. Then, the deity's form, from the pores of the skin to the hands and feet, is clearly and brightly visible, and conceptual thoughts do not scatter, and you can abide for even half a day and night, this is the experience of completion. Furthermore, the yogi should combine his own experience. If the deity is not clear for a long time, the elements will be disturbed and you will become bored, samadhi will not progress, and conceptual thoughts will arise again in abundance. In general, it is important to have clarity in short sessions, and meditate on the sun and lamps, etc., which have luminosity. Do not meditate immediately after waking up, when drunk, or when vision is blurred. Sleep soundly at night, and meditate eight times a day in short sessions. When stopping meditation, if you suddenly stop samadhi, it will be lost, so stop slowly in a clear state. If it appears clearly as soon as you start meditating, meditate in the early evening and at dawn. In general, focus your mind on whatever appears clearly, as long as you are not bored.
