Padmasambhava's attitude is to say that one must accumulate the accumulation of merit, so one accumulates the accumulation. The same was said to the king, and the king asked the Golden Buddha what was most important, (the Buddha said) that the accumulation of merit can attain the heavens, but that is also the fruit of samsara. Meditating will exhaust the afflictions and attain nirvana. That's what he said. Therefore, accumulating the accumulation of merit incidentally will become a companion for virtuous practice. Meditation should be sustained like a river. If the accumulation of wisdom is complete, one will become a Buddha, he said. Guru Padmasambhava said that behavior should be like the wind of autumn without attachment. Whatever attachment arises, it cannot be freed from bondage. The story of attachment and clinging is: In the kingdom of Kosala, there lived a king named King Bright, who was very wealthy. There was a very poor man named Poor, who at one time found a precious jewel, (thinking) I, this hungry man, have no reliance. If I hold this, it will not become a reliance for the poor, so in the world I will give it to the poorest person. All the poor gathered and said, please give to us. You are not poor, the so-called poor is King Bright, so give it to the king, he said. The king was ashamed and said to the poor man, how can I be poorer than you? The poor man said, although I have nothing, I am rich because I am content. The king, although he has countless possessions, is poor because he is not content. That's what he said. Whether this is true or not, ask the Buddha. The Buddha taught: If there is no contentment for impure wealth, no matter how much there is, that is the source of suffering. Contentment is rich, and lack of contentment is poor. That's what he said. The jewel was given to the king, and the poor man took from the king only enough food to sustain himself, and then practiced the Dharma, thereby liberating and attaining enlightenment. Therefore, for anything, attachment and clinging will bind, so behavior should be like the wind of autumn without attachment and clinging, he said. Guru Padmasambhava said that the fruit of the Ocean-Born Vajra, needs to have perfect wishes, to accomplish self-interest and the interest of others, like a wish-fulfilling jewel. That is not found elsewhere.

Therefore, realizing one's own mind-essence is Buddhahood. Regarding this, a credible story is: In the land of Magadha, there was a king named Zukchen Nyingpo (Gzugs can snying po, Endowed with Form Essence), who had two objects of veneration: One was the hermit Sempa Sengge (Sems dpa' seng ge, Lion-hearted Bodhisattva), who said, "Realizing the mind is the only Buddhahood," and introduced the mind as the Buddha. The other, named Hangbu Dewai Gyalpo (Hang bu bde ba'i rgyal po, King of Joyful Ease), said, "The Buddha resides in the perfectly endowed Akanishta heaven," and always invited and offered to him. The king asked the Bhagavan (Shakyamuni Buddha) which of these two was correct. The Bhagavan replied, "The Dharmakaya is free from elaboration and pure; realizing one's own mind is the only way. To think that it exists elsewhere is like trying to extract oil from sand." It is said that he spoke thus. Now, yogis who meditate on the form of the Buddha are increasing ignorance, creating distraction, and deceiving the mind. Therefore, Buddhahood is realizing one's own mind; this is the Dharmakaya. It is very important to know that the three bodies of the Buddha are inseparable: Mind unborn is the Dharmakaya; unceasing is the Sambhogakaya; non-dual is the Nirmanakaya; non-conceptual is the Dharmakaya; bliss is the Sambhogakaya; luminosity is the Nirmanakaya. Guru Padmasambhava said: "Tsogyal (Mtsho rgyal, Lake Queen), because you want to make the mind workable and want to employ intelligence, you need someone like a master of yoga, who is able to transform the consciousness of others and also able to inject his own consciousness into others, and who possesses miraculous powers."
