Because there is no attachment, it is joyful to leave one's homeland; because the study and contemplation of knowledge are endless, it is joyful when one realizes one's own mind; because worldly idle talk has no limit, it is joyful when one can observe silence; because worldly distractions are never finished, it is joyful when one can live alone; because there is no end to the work to be done, it is joyful when one can let go of activities; because there is no satisfaction with accumulated wealth, it is joyful when one can reduce attachment; because hateful enemies cannot be conquered, it is joyful when one can subdue afflictions; because there is no contentment with beloved relatives, it is joyful when one can cut off sorrow; because the root of samsara is not severed, it is joyful when one can cut off self-grasping; because conceptual thoughts and activities are endless, it is joyful when one can cut off mental distractions; in short, there is no joy for sentient beings who have not separated from self-grasping; in the state of samsara, there is prolonged suffering. Guru Rinpoche said: Claiming to be a yogi, many fall into worldliness. The nun asked: How do they fall? He said: The yogi who speaks of views but does not understand the nature of mind is fallen; the yogi who imprisons knowledge and meditates foolishly without realization is fallen; the yogi who says everything is mind but acts carelessly is fallen. The nun asked: What is a yogi who does not fall? He said: The yogi who knows appearances are mind and takes the dharmakaya as the path is not fallen; the yogi who cuts off all elaborations and has confidence in the view is not fallen; the yogi who experiences that state and takes awareness as the path is not fallen; the yogi who takes appearances as friends and has no attachment is not fallen. In short, in the degenerate age, there are few yogis who do not fall, and many who fall. Guru Rinpoche said: In practicing Dharma, method is very important. The nun asked: What method is important? He said: If one can recognize the innate wisdom that one possesses, there is no way not to attain Buddhahood; if one clings to sects and particular aspects, there is no way to attain Buddhahood; if one knows the nature of samsara as a continuous chain of suffering and turns away from it, there is no way not to be liberated from samsara; if one does not separate from grasping at subject and object, there is no way not to fall into samsara; because wisdom is not substantial, if one knows the five poisons are self-liberated, there is no way to go to hell; however, there are few who possess such qualities, so they wander in the state of samsara.

He spoke for a long time before leaving. Guru Padmasambhava said: "Just doing this Dharma is not enough." Jomo asked: "What should be done then?" The master said: "Explaining the Dharma will turn into two aspects: praise and criticism; listening to the Dharma will turn into two aspects: hope and doubt; being a steward will become attached to two aspects: eating and drinking; meditating will turn into two aspects: dullness and agitation; doing good deeds will turn into two aspects: pursuing fame and gain and respect; understanding more, desires also become greater; if you associate with too many disciples, practice will become lax. There are too many practitioners who contradict the Dharma no matter what they do." Guru Padmasambhava said: "These people who claim to be practitioners, because of arrogance and self-righteousness, their desires become very large." Jomo asked: "What should be done then?" The master said: "Some people think that they are wise people who are proficient in listening and thinking; some people think that they are monks who keep pure precepts; some people think that they are practitioners who often go to remote mountain temples; some people think that they have great supernatural powers and abilities; seeing the wealth they want, they are as greedy as beasts seeing blood; seeing the harm they don't like, they avoid it like wild yaks; they are conceited about their own advantages, like peacocks showing off their tails; they are jealous of other people's advantages, like good dogs guarding property. These self-righteous practitioners will only increase the power of their own five aggregates demons. Therefore, these ignorant people have become tools of demons, it is really pitiful!" Guru Padmasambhava said: "To practice the Dharma, one must cut off the distinction between good and evil." Jomo asked: "What does that mean?" The master said: "When the discriminating thoughts that cling to the self disappear, there is no good or evil, no karma and no retribution. As long as the discriminating thoughts that cling to the self have not disappeared, unwholesome karma will grow and produce evil results, and wholesome karma will also grow and produce good results. When discriminating thoughts disappear, no good or evil karma will be accumulated, and no results will be produced. At that time, it is when the cause is exhausted, the conditions are exhausted, and what needs to be done has been done, this is the ultimate truth. In the future five degenerate ages, some people, because they have not recognized the fault of clinging to the self, their discriminating thoughts chatter endlessly, and from all kinds of afflictions arise gross afflictions, and then they put views on their lips.
