If you want to practice Dharma correctly, it is said that you must have thirteen precious things. Jomo asked, "What are they?" The answer was: Cherish honoring the Lama who possesses qualities; Cherish relying on the Lama who possesses instructions for a long time; Cherish having steadfast faith and respect for the Three Jewels; Cherish being cautious even of small sins and non-virtuous deeds; Cherish meditating on impermanence in your mind three times during the day and three times during the night; It is very important to cultivate diligence in virtuous Dharma; Cherish constantly meditating on love and compassion for sentient beings; Cherish reducing attachment to appearances and things by means of skillful methods; Cherish generating certainty about the unerring instructions; Cherish upholding vows and commitments properly; Cherish not spreading secret instructions to unworthy vessels; Cherish striving to rely on solitary places for practice; Cherish constantly settling your own mind; It is said that if you have these, Dharma will arise. Guru Padmasambhava said: If you want Dharma, it is said that there is a method. Jomo asked, "How should I do it?" The answer was: If you want to see the meaning of Dharmata, you must rely on a Lama; If you want to be liberated from Samsara, you must abandon your household; If you understand that you will die, you must practice Dharma; If you want to meditate on non-duality, you must give up activities; If you want to perfect qualities, you must practice; If you want to abandon suffering, you must abandon your retinue; If you want to generate experience, you must go to a solitary retreat; If you want to be without attachment and aversion, you must abandon your homeland; If you want to see a spectacle, you must look at the mirror of your own clear mind; If you want accomplishments to be near, you must carry the Lama, Yidam, and Dakini on the crown of your head; It is said that if you do not practice the Dharma that obtains liberation. Guru Padmasambhava said: If you practice Dharma from the heart, it is said that you must have effort and diligence. Jomo asked, "How should I do it?" The answer was: Relatives, food, wealth, children, all of them, Because they are illusions, you must abandon them; Distractions, merit, honor, all of them, Because they are obstacles and temptations, you must abandon them; Friends, servants, relatives, all of them, Because they are the cause of attachment and aversion, you must abandon them; Years, months, days, and meals, all of them, Because they are thieves at the time of death, you must meditate quickly; People without bones in their hearts regard relatives, food, wealth, and children as virtues; They see merit in distractions; They regard the heavy yoke as the happiness of friends.

Ho! Without noticing the passing of months and years, people calculate the length of life, and there are many who attach their minds to the five poisons. Therefore, at the time of death, one must make one's own arrangements. Guru Padmasambhava said: Even practicing Dharma is difficult. Jomo asked: How is it difficult? He replied: If the view is wrong, the harm is great. If meditation is only done in the mind, it is confusing. If one breaks vows with enemies, one is harmed. If the three doors of body, speech, and mind are used for evil, one is confused. If the teachings are destroyed by excessive desire, they are ruined. If Dharma is aimed at wealth, it is destroyed. If vows are lost through scolding others, they are lost. If suffering is seen as true, it is wrong. If one is tormented by the desire for fame, it is lost. If all actions are for the pleasure of this life, they are wrong. Those who pretend to be religious but have no faith are false. Those who claim to be great meditators but are empty inside are hungry. Because they do not remember impermanence, I see that they will be very painful at the time of death. They are arrogant, thinking they are clever and wise, and they are stubborn. Guru Padmasambhava said: If you know, there is a way to be happy. Jomo asked: How to do it? He replied: If the view is without duality, it is happy. If there is no dullness or distraction, meditation is happy. If attachment is as pure as the sky, conduct is happy. If one's own mind is pure and without defilement, experience is happy. If there is no thorn in the mind, abiding is happy. If partiality is completely purified, compassion is happy. If grasping is purified from the depths, generosity is happy. If food and wealth are known to be illusory, enjoyment is happy. If there is no certainty where to stay, staying anywhere is happy. If the ground of arrogance is not taken, conduct is happy. If suffering is not brought into the home, livelihood is happy. If one does not compete with good people, friendship is happy. If the behavior of children is without self-grasping, it is happy. If one relies on a holy person who has compassion, it is happy. If the six realms of beings are gathered by the essence of the Sugata, it is happy as brothers and sisters. If attachment to the mind is cut off, whatever is done is happy on the path. If appearance and existence are liberated in their own place, great bliss is found and it is happy. If appearance and sound are known to be illusory, suffering is cut off and it is happy. If one knows one's own nature, it is happy without effort. If thoughts are the nature of Dharma, whatever is seen is happy to meditate on. If you know this, whatever you do is happy. For sentient beings of the degenerate age who have not separated from self-grasping, there is no happiness or joy. All should be treated with compassion. Guru Padmasambhava said: If you can do it, there is a way to be happy. Jomo asked: How to do it? He replied: If you can cut off attachment,
