One should not be attached to this. If one does not abandon the relationships with relatives, children, kin, friends, and women, one will be trapped in the mire of samsara, and there will be no time for liberation. If one does not abandon the three diseases, in the house of samsara, tormented by the diseases of the three poisons, without feeling the suffering, one can endure great suffering, it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: When practicing Dharma, there is a way to be liberated from samsara. Jomo asked: How should that be done? If you want to generate special reverence, you should observe the outer and inner qualities of the lama. If you want all actions to be consistent, do not reject the efforts to benefit others. If you want to capture the lama's heart, you should practice the instructions given by the lama. If you want to quickly attain accomplishment, you should protect the vows without breaking them. If you want to be liberated from the four rivers of birth, old age, sickness, and death, you should relentlessly investigate the root of the alaya consciousness. If you want to practice without obstacles, you should cast aside the distractions of the world. If you want to accomplish benefiting others effortlessly, you should cultivate immeasurable love, compassion, and bodhicitta in your mind. If you fear falling into the three lower realms in the future, you should abandon the ten non-virtuous actions in this life. If you want both this life and the future to be happy, you should strive to practice the ten virtuous actions. If you want the Dharma to enter your mind, you should endure the hardships of suffering. If you want to turn away from samsara, you should seek the supreme bodhi from your own mind. If you want to attain the fruit of the three kayas, you should strive to accumulate the two accumulations. If you do so, you will attain happiness. For those who have not awakened from samsara, there is no happiness, it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: When practicing Dharma, one must protect the vows, but because of difficulties, breaking the vows is the majority, it is said. Jomo asked: What is that like? The Guru secretly said: There are cases of breaking vows in order to proclaim one's own merits. There are cases of breaking vows because one is reluctant to make offerings to the lama, and one's mind becomes evil, turning one's own wealth into temple property. There are cases of breaking vows by deceiving the lama and Dharma friends with false means. There are cases of breaking vows by despising the kind lama, but speaking sweet words. There are cases of breaking vows by blaming one's own faults on the lama, but saying that one's vows are pure. There are cases of breaking vows of forgetfulness by saying that one has the qualities of a lama when one does not. There are many good ways to say that one has listened to the Dharma when one has not, that one has received empowerment when one has not, that one has instructions when one does not, but blessings and...

He said that the ability to arise is small. Guru Padmasambhava said: To practice Dharma, unwavering faith is essential. It is said that ten causes are needed to generate faith. Jomo asked: What are those? The master said: Recognizing that there is no happiness in the current actions mixed with strife, believing in the cause and effect of good and evil deeds, remembering one's own death and generating renunciation, knowing that wealth, children, relatives are of no help at the time of death, knowing that one has no control over where one will be reborn in the next life, knowing that it is a waste to obtain a pure human body and not practice Dharma, recognizing that no matter where one is born in the six realms of samsara, one cannot escape suffering, hearing the great qualities of the Three Jewels, seeing the actions and qualities of the excellent lama, and associating with good Dharma friends who abide in virtue. If these arise or are remembered in the mind, that person will be liberated from samsara. Isn't it not difficult for each of these to arise in the mind? Guru Padmasambhava said: If you practice Dharma wholeheartedly, you need thirteen ways to renounce worldly concerns. Jomo asked: What are those thirteen? The master said: If you do not abandon your homeland, you cannot defeat the demon of pride; if you do not give up household affairs, you will not find time to practice Dharma; when faith arises, if you do not go to practice Dharma, you will not be able to complete your work; if you do not have faith in yourself, do not blame others; if you do not throw your possessions into the wind (giving alms), you will not be able to make up your mind to practice Dharma; if you do not distance yourself from relatives and friends, you will not be able to cut off attachment and aversion; if you do not practice Dharma now, you do not know where you will be reborn in the future; if you do not practice when you have autonomy now, but place your hopes on the future, that is useless; if you do not lie to yourself, make up your mind and practice the excellent Dharma; when relatives, women, and possessions should be abandoned, it is meaningful to abandon them now; do not protect possessions that you are not sure you will lose, but cultivate the virtue that you will definitely need; do not make plans for tomorrow that you are not sure you will need, but do the virtuous deeds that you are sure you need. If you diligently practice Dharma, the suffering of food and clothing will naturally disappear. I have not heard or seen of anyone who practices Dharma starving to death. Guru Padmasambhava said:
