此后安住之时，领主为障碍疾病所侵扰，正在进行各种各样的仪轨、医药、占卜等，此时，莲花生大士也前去问候病情，领主也起身行礼禀告说：我出现了很多障碍，请您赐予消除这些障碍的加持。因为领主总是寻求通过占卜师和苯教徒来消除障碍，即使莲花生大士一直向他讲授甚深佛法， 莲花生大士对此并不高兴，于是对领主说：领主啊，我已将所有甚深教法都传授给了您这位王子，但您似乎并没有铭记在心。现在请您这样忆念：一切佛法都需要在必要时成为对治之法。无论出现何种恐怖景象，都要忆念皈依处三宝。无论在任何行为中，都要忆念上师在头顶。如果没有忍辱和菩提心，就要忆念大乘佛法的根本已经腐烂。在布施时，如果产生吝啬，就要忆念饿鬼的痛苦。在行持梵行时，如果产生贪欲，就要忆念尸粪地狱。在修持忍辱时，如果产生嗔恨，就要忆念在铁室中焚烧的地狱。如果出现懈怠和懒惰，就要忆念生命一刹那也不停歇地流逝。每天的日月交替，都要忆念为生命的磨损。守护誓言的念诵，日夜六时都要忆念。庸俗地躺卧睡眠，都要忆念比牛还不如。获得人身却没有佛法，都要忆念比麻风病人还可怜。明明知道善恶，却不畏惧业果，都要忆念自己是疯子。即使出现微小的罪业果报，也要忆念如山般的痛苦。对于微小的善行，也要像对待心肝一样珍爱。如果忆念杀生，就要忆念杀害父母子女。如果忆念贪欲，就要忆念转生为胎生虫。如果忆念不予而取，就要忆念自己的生活被断绝。如果认为像我这样的人不可能修成佛法而灰心丧气，也要忆念佛陀也曾是陶工之子。

Then, while residing there, the lord was afflicted by obstacles and illnesses, and various rituals, medicine, and divination were being performed. At that time, the master also went to inquire about his health. The lord also rose and prostrated, saying, "I have encountered many obstacles. Please grant me the blessing to remove these." Because the lord always sought to eliminate obstacles through diviners and Bonpos, even though the master had been teaching him profound Dharma, The master was displeased and said to the lord, "Lord, I have taught all the profound instructions to you, the prince, but you do not seem to have kept them in mind. Now, please remember this: all Dharma should be a remedy when needed. Whatever fearful appearances arise, remember to take refuge in the Three Jewels. In whatever conduct, remember the guru on your crown. If there is no patience and bodhicitta, remember that the root of the Mahayana Dharma has rotted. When giving, if stinginess arises, remember the suffering of the pretas. When practicing celibacy, if desire arises, remember the hell of corpses. When cultivating patience, if anger arises, remember the hell of being burned in an iron chamber. If laziness and sloth arise, remember that life passes without stopping for even a moment. The alternation of day and night, remember as the wear and tear of life. The recitation of vows of protection, remember six times day and night. Lying down to sleep in a vulgar way, remember that you are worse than an ox. Having obtained a human body without Dharma, remember that you are more miserable than a leper. Knowing good and evil, yet not fearing karmic consequences, remember that you are a madman. Even if a small karmic result of wrongdoing arises, remember suffering as vast as a mountain. Cherish even a small act of virtue as if it were your heart. If you remember killing, remember killing your parents and children. If you remember desire, remember being born as a womb worm. If you remember taking what is not given, remember that your livelihood is cut off. If you become discouraged thinking that someone like me cannot attain Dharma, remember that even the Buddha was once the son of a potter."
