Therefore, one should contemplate dissolving into space. When abiding in the natural state, awareness must merge into the state of non-conceptualization. For reversing meditation, one must completely abandon doubt and hesitation without any dependence. For the object of focus, awareness must become single-pointed. It is crucial to have conviction and complete absorption in all three of these. Third, the method for clearing obstacles of mind's conceptualization, gods, and demons is: 'Cut off self-other, fear, and hesitation.' This means that when faults and sudden occurrences arise in experience, the interdependent connection of the root location and the manifestation of conceptual thoughts will bring about the illusions and manifestations of demonic forces, gods, and demons. If fearful and apprehensive conceptual thoughts arise, quickly seize the key point and transform them into the path. If left to themselves or allowed to dominate, they will become obstacles whenever one practices in the future. Furthermore, if the obstacles of high and low status are not transformed into the path, then later, when practicing, they will appear with interest and become obstacles. Therefore, it is crucial to transform them into the path. Generally, the method for transforming into the path is: fundamentally cut off the path of one's own conceptual thoughts. These appearances like demons and illusions are the self-manifestation of one's own deluded mind. Gods and demons other than oneself do not exist at all. Moreover, at the very moment when they appear as demons and illusions, they are the self-manifestation of the deluded mind. Know that they are devoid of arising, abiding, and ceasing, and are unestablished. Through this key point, whenever illusions arise, with the illusion wheel, maintain the way of looking and examine their essence. They will appear as clarity and emptiness. As soon as conceptual thoughts arise as clarity and emptiness, they are transformed into the path. Furthermore, be endowed with the pride of a deity, have great confidence in the view, understand the profound key points, and be endowed with courage and confidence. Completely cut off fear or apprehension, hesitation, and doubt. No matter what demonic hordes or demon armies appear, they cannot move even a single pore. Obstacles will not occur, they cannot hinder. One should become a hero of such thought. If demons and obstacles such as illness arise, having many conceptual thoughts like 'Is it like this?' is like offering food to the demons. Therefore, all things that appear as gods and demons are the self-manifestation of one's own conceptual thoughts. Apart from that, there is not even a hair's breadth of establishment. Therefore, cut off the continuum of conceptual thoughts, offer the aggregates as a feast, give the body as food, completely abandon self-grasping, and seize the key point.

Place it on the path. Fourth, to dispel the obstacles of sudden obscurations arising from circumstances: The four obscurations of broken vows, companions, places, and food must be dispelled. The four obscurations are: obscurations of vows, obscurations of companions, obscurations of places, and obscurations of food. The first is the obscuration of vows, which arises from vows being broken or weakened, or from entering a wrong path. The second is the obscuration of companions, which arises from companions breaking vows or losing their precepts, or from suddenly encountering or conversing with great evildoers. Furthermore, it also comes from lepers, butchers, widows, ghosts, and so on. The third is the obscuration of places, which arises from residing in places of sin, haunted houses, places of conflict, houses of vows, and so on. The fourth is the obscuration of food, which arises from food of conflict, food of ill omen, food of sin, and so on. These four obscurations can cause illness in the body, diminish concentration, and cause Dharma protectors to turn away. The dream signs of these are: if vows are broken, at night, in a dream, one will go downwards. Regarding companions, the impurity of companions will contaminate oneself. Regarding places, one will reside in an impure place. Regarding food, one will eat one's own impurity or food contaminated by filth. To dispel these, there are three methods: superior, intermediate, and inferior. The superior method is to restore through requesting empowerment. The intermediate method is to confess by reciting the Hundred Syllable Mantra. The inferior method is to perform a bathing ritual. In short, one should perform many tsok offerings, offerings, obscuration confessions, obscuration dispellings, obscuration tormas, obscuration completions, and so on. Third, to place the effectiveness of this path at the essential point: The so-called three ways to bring the effectiveness of this path to the extreme are: dispelling the faults of not generating effectiveness, establishing the basis for generating effectiveness, and the method of how to generate effectiveness. First, dispelling the faults of not generating effectiveness: Abandon the root of faults—self-grasping—with wisdom. The so-called faults prevent the arising of qualities, and the root of faults is the attachment to "I" and "mine." Therefore, one must cut the bonds of self-grasping, abandon attachment to enemies and friends, completely abandon worldly affairs with wisdom, and not engage in non-Dharma activities, but only focus on the supreme Dharma. If these faults are not dispelled, effectiveness will not arise, just as sprouts do not grow on stone. In short, the root of all faults is not abandoning self-grasping with wisdom. Second, establishing the basis for generating effectiveness: Vigorously practice the fundamental qualities.
