passes away into the sphere of reality. This is the instruction for those of the highest faculty to attain enlightenment without the bardo. Secondly, the instruction for those of middling faculty to attain enlightenment in the bardo also has four parts: The manner of the dissolution of the elements and the manner of the cessation of thoughts are the same as before. Thirdly, the manner in which the bardo of reality dawns is: As with those of the highest faculty, if the intention of the thought-free dharmakaya is not recognized, then the awareness remains within the heart, enters through the path like a white silk thread, and then upon exiting, the physical consciousness separates and one faints for a day. When the faintness clears, the appearances of sound, light, rays, and bindus of the bardo of reality dawn. The sound is the natural sound of the dharmata mother, a great and powerful roar like the sound of thunder that distinguishes summer from winter. The light is the natural radiance of awareness, clear and pure, dawns. Within the light, rays radiate, shimmering like a mirage on a summer plain. Fourthly, the manner of recognizing one's own nature and attaining enlightenment is: Now, through the power of introduction and practice, those appearances of sound, light, and rays are known as self-originated, co-emergent wisdom, and one attains enlightenment. This also depends on the distinctions of repeated familiarity. If one is a yogi who is familiar with the meaning of the perfection stage of emptiness, then those appearances of sound, light, and rays dawn as the wisdom of the inseparability of appearance and emptiness, and one attains enlightenment in the dharmakaya. If one is familiar with the yoga of the deity of the generation stage, then those appearances of sound, light, and rays dawn as the mandala of the deity of self-radiance, and one attains enlightenment in the sambhogakaya. If one is a yogi of illusory emptiness, then those appearances of sound, light, and rays dawn like dreams and illusions, and one attains enlightenment in the nirmanakaya. If one is a yogi who knows all phenomena of samsara and nirvana to be self-appearances, then those appearances of sound, light, and rays are known as self-arising and self-liberating, and one attains enlightenment in the svabhavikakaya. Therefore, we should examine which of the four practices we abide in, and cut through the bardo through the door of whichever practice gives rise to experience and realization. Thirdly, the manner in which those of the lowest faculty take rebirth has five parts: The manner of the dissolution of the elements and the manner of the cessation of thoughts are the same as before. Thirdly, the manner in which the mental body is formed is: The mental body is formed through eight interdependent conditions: Not knowing the self-appearance of light is ignorance, and by the power of that, the five winds

Therefore, the birth of grasping a place is name and form. From this arise the mind of the bardo and the two, the mind's body. From this, wisdom arises sharply and quickly, hence the arising of the sense bases. Its encounter with an object is contact. From this, experiencing pleasure and pain is feeling. To this, the arising of attachment and aversion is craving. Thus, the mind-body is formed by eight. Fourth, the way the bardo appears is: the appearances of former imprints and karma arise, coming to the former place and home. It associates with all close ones with the mind. There is no certainty of food, dwelling, and reliance. The mind-body eats the food of odors. It goes without obstruction to the place of birth and the mother's womb, as well as the body of the Tathagata, and all places other than Vajrasana. It is always afraid, terrified, and frightened. The appearances of flesh-eating rakshasas, wild animals, hail, and blizzards arise. It seeks refuge and reliance in all places. The sense bases are clear, and the mind's faculties are complete, possessing the pure divine eye, seeing with the inner bardo being. Fifth, the way to take rebirth is: after the above self-radiance, the supreme light, has faded, the five paths of common light appear in streaks. The co-emergent ignorance does not recognize itself, and the ignorance of imputation imputes to others. Because of clinging to the appearance of others, one is born into the six realms, like a wild animal caught in a net or a bee entangled in a web. Among these, if one clings to the white light, one falls into hell; if one clings to the red light, one falls into the preta realm; if one clings to the black light, one falls into the animal realm; if one clings to the yellow light, one is reborn as a human; if one clings to the green light, one is reborn as a god or an asura. At that time, thinking of the suffering of the six realms, do not cling to any of the five lights. The consciousness of the bardo is easily transformed, and if it is seized by mindfulness, then, like wishing to be born in Sukhavati, one is born without doubt. Second, showing the removal of the faults of the four obstacles on that path is: through "Second, there are four ways to remove the obstacles on the path: removing the obstacles of samadhi experience, removing the obstacles of physical illness and suffering, removing the obstacles of mental thoughts and spirits, and removing the obstacles of sudden shadows of external circumstances." First, removing the obstacles of samadhi experience is: adjust dullness, excitement, and the three experiences, and transform them into the path. Through "", there are five: when dull, make it clear; when excited, calm it down; transform beneficial experiences into the path; transform harmful experiences into companions; and transform neutral experiences into increase.
