On the left branch are the supreme manifestations such as the common Buddha Shakyamuni. On the left branch are the common Sangha of the Great and Small Vehicles. On the branch behind are the Dharma of scripture and realization, presented in the form of stacked scriptures. Surrounding are the special Sangha, Dakinis, Heroes, and Dharma Protectors, gathered like dense clouds. At the root of the tree, all sentient beings of the six realms, led by oneself, are spread out like dust on the great earth, all with their bodies facing the refuge, palms joined and kneeling. The mouth recites the refuge words led by oneself. The mind thinks of the refuge as complete with all qualities and free from all faults, regarding it as the ultimate refuge, trusting wholeheartedly. The mouth recites: In the space filling all of space, Gurus, deities, Dakinis, and retinues, Buddhas, Dharma, and the noble Sangha, I and all beings respectfully take refuge. After reciting as much as possible, visualize immeasurable rays of compassion emanating from the bodies of the refuge, guiding all surrounding sentient beings to the pure realm of the Dakinis. Visualize all the refuge dissolving into light and merging into oneself, not clinging to the object of refuge, the sentient beings taking refuge, and the motivation for taking refuge, abiding in the emptiness of the three spheres, which is the ultimate refuge. Finally, recite: By this virtue of pure nature, may we be liberated from the cycle of suffering and the lower realms, and without dwelling in existence or peace, may we quickly attain the perfect three bodies. Thus, dedicate the merit. According to the common way of practice, the benefits are: In the "Immaculate Sutra" it says: If the merit of taking refuge had a form, it could fill the entire sky, and would be even greater than that. And so on, as the eight qualities are widely known. Second, how to transform all actions into the path of the Great Vehicle - generating Bodhicitta: First, the essence is to desire to attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment for the sake of liberating all sentient beings from samsara. In the "Ornament of Clear Realization" it says: The generation of the mind is for the sake of others, desiring perfect enlightenment. Thus it is said. Second, the meaning of the word is: The meaning of generating the mind is to generate a mind that was not previously generated in oneself for the purpose of benefiting others. Third, the classification is: Many kinds.

Although it is said so, there are two types: ultimate and conventional. The first is: emptiness and great compassion are the essence, clear and unwavering, free from the extremes of elaboration. As stated in the Samdhinirmocana Sutra. The second, conventional, is: As stated in the Bodhicaryavatara: In brief, the mind of enlightenment should be known to be of two types: the mind of aspiring to enlightenment and the mind of engaging in enlightenment. Thus, among the two, aspiration and engagement, aspiration is: the intention to attain perfect and complete enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. Engagement is: joining the means to achieve Buddhahood, similar to wanting to go and actually going. When practicing this, there is not one of these immeasurable sentient beings who has not been my parent. All of these beings want happiness, but they are foolish and unskilled, only engaging in non-virtue, their practice contrary to their desires, obscured by the darkness of ignorance. Their minds are disturbed by afflictions and they are driven mad. They have lost the eyes to see what to accept and reject. They have no guidance from virtuous friends. Falling into the great precipice of samsara, they are truly pitiable. If I abandon them, who is more shameless than that? As stated in the Suhrllekha: If relatives fall into the ocean of samsara, like falling into a deep abyss, unable to recognize them due to the cycle of birth and death, abandoning them and seeking liberation alone, there is nothing more shameless than that. Therefore, if I could liberate them from samsara and place them in the supreme state of liberation, how wonderful that would be! This is the mind of aspiration. But now I do not have the ability to accomplish this, and if I enter the lower vehicles, I would have to rely on long-term asceticism. In the meantime, beings will be pitiful due to suffering. Therefore, in order to manifest the result in one lifetime, I will practice such a profound path. Thus, with the mind of engagement and aspiration united, with a single-pointed mind, I say: From now until I attain enlightenment, I will follow in the footsteps of the Vidyadhara princes, manifest the heart essence of the profound secret, and place beings in the realm of Samantabhadra's five lights. To the best of my ability, I seal the ultimate Bodhicitta with the wisdom of non-conceptualization of the three spheres, and abide in that state.
