Universally relax and abide. By alternating various perspectives in this way, the mind will become calm. It is said that these should be practiced for three days each. As for which state to abide in, it should be based on one's own physical and mental condition, and it is not necessary to proceed through all of them in order. These are the signs of accomplishing calm abiding: From the Mind at Rest, it says, "By abiding in this way, the mind becomes workable, it does not wander elsewhere, and it focuses on the object of focus. The longer one abides, the longer one remains in equanimity. Because body, speech, and mind are filled with joy and bliss, one becomes single-pointed and calm abiding is accomplished." As it is said. At this time, if one becomes attached to the experience of bliss, clarity, and non-thought, one will fall into the three realms. Therefore, no matter what kind of experience arises, good or bad, do not cling to it, but treat it with indifference, so that it can become the path. Second, to stabilize abiding with the perspective of a Bodhisattva: Sit in the lotus position, look straight ahead, towards the space in front of the tip of the nose, without blinking or wavering, just look straight ahead, and let the mind abide in its natural state. In this state, whatever appears as an object of the external senses, whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, do not modify it as soon as it appears, but naturally and effortlessly abide in its own state. Does the appearance of an other-object, which is not the self-nature of the thinker, appear separately? Does one's own thinker live far away from one's own continuum? Also, the thinker and the object of thought meet in the same instant. Do not miss this point, it must be cut off from oneself. In the first instant, appearance and mind are inseparable, if one cuts it off with effortless abiding, there is a key point that everything that appears in the field of consciousness will be cut off as mind. If one does not understand this, then whatever appears, if one does not recognize that the essence of appearance and mind is the same in the instant of appearance, then in the second instant, the appearance remains outside, and the awareness remains inside, so there is no time to focus on the confusion of object and subject and cut it off. Therefore, it is important to be able to discern the inseparable instant of whatever appears. Third, to liberate stability with the perspective of a wrathful deity: Stretch out both legs with a powerful stance, gaze upwards into space, utter sounds such as "Ha, ha" and "He, he," and let the mind abide in a state free from elaboration.

The basis of uncontaminated wisdom relies on the lineage, and there are two aspects: first, revealing the reality of primordial purity, Trekchö; second, directly demonstrating the spontaneously accomplished wisdom, Tögal. The first has three parts: first, generating the three preliminary realizations that have not yet arisen; second, revealing the arisen realizations through the two main practices; third, enhancing and refining skills through the three self-liberations. The first of the three is to cut off the root of conceptual thought: Who is it that wanders in samsara, the body, speech, and mind? Who is the one who makes affirmations and negations? From the previous life to this life, and from this life to the next, what is it that goes? What is the most important? By asking and examining in this way, one knows that the mind is the most important. Second, in the middle, searching for the flaws of the mind: This mind that acts in this way, holding everything as self, and examining where this "I" is, are the body, speech, and mind one or different? If they are one, then just as the mind is invisible, the body should also be invisible. If the body has form, then the mind and speech should also have form. Just as speech is known as sound, the body and mind should also be the same. By examining in this way, one knows that all affirmations and negations are made by the mind and are not established separately. Third, examining the three places of origin, dwelling, and going: This mind that grasps at self, where does it arise from in the beginning? Where does it dwell now? Where will it go in the end? By examining the mind itself in this way, one realizes that the three places of origin, dwelling, and going are not established, and that it is a clear and empty awareness, without any traces, free from grasping. This is different from what was said before, because the former was examining the object and not finding it, while this is examining the subject and entering into the essence. Are the mind that seeks and the mind that is sought two or one? Does the mind have shapes such as roundness, and colors such as red and white? If it is empty and nothing, then where is the one who thinks of emptiness, and how does it exist? If the experience of bliss, clarity, and non-thought arises, then where are the object of experience and the experiencer, which are not just the experience itself? Do dwelling and movement exist at the same time, or do they exist separately? Are the two one or different? By examining this well, one knows that all seekers are in the secret of indivisibility in an instant.
