, the nature of self-retention is the spontaneously born fresh awareness, placing the definition in an uncorrected fresh state, and the method of abiding in the natural state, etc., are explained as four. For example, when spinning a Brahmin thread, it is like being able to spin a good thread if one avoids the four faults of being too long, too short, too loose, and too tight. The actual method of practice has four meanings: the posture of the body, the abiding of speech, the way of settling the mind, and the duration of a session. First, in a quiet place with a balance of coolness and warmth, do not face the wind and sunlight, cut off speech, sit in the vajra posture with legs crossed, straighten the spine, make the samadhi mudra with the index fingers pressing the thumbs, bend the throat slightly, touch the tip of the tongue to the palate, do not touch the teeth, and from the tip of the nose to four fingers down, focus on the space, with the seven-point posture of Vairochana, seven kinds of self-born awareness will arise, so the key is profound. After merging into the natural state, any comfortable posture is fine. Second, the abiding of speech is to let the breath flow out slowly and equally from both nostrils. Third, the way of settling the mind is to remember the self-born, stainless state that arises from the blessing of the above-mentioned Guru Yoga, or to extract the stream of experience of the subsequent wisdom that distinguishes truth from falsehood, self-born awareness, and Salepa, and to abide openly in a state of non-discrimination, freshness, non-distraction, and clarity, without intention. If the duration of abiding is too long, cut it off by reciting the syllable Phat(ཕཊ,梵文天城体:फट्,梵文罗马拟音:phaṭ,断除). If the duration of abiding is too short, protect it with non-grasping mindfulness until warmth arises. Do not tighten it with too much effort, but relax and abide. Do not be too lax, but abide vigilantly. In all subsequent actions, also do not cling to this, but protect the state of self-awareness, stainless, naked, and transparent. Fourth, the duration of a session is that beginners should practice in a way that is short in duration and many in number. That is, after practicing in a way that possesses the key points of the three doors, relax and rest, practicing twenty-eight times in each of the four sessions. After becoming accustomed to this, do twelve times in the morning, twelve times in the afternoon, and ten times each in the evening and at dawn, relaxing twice at noon, and protecting the nature. After becoming accustomed to this, gradually lengthen the duration of a session, reduce the number of times, and lengthen the continuity of awareness. When feeling good, relax and protect. At these times, practice the preliminary of this practice - refuge and bodhicitta.

Apart from practicing each session for a certain number of times, all other activities, whether good or bad, undeclared, should be abandoned, and even reciting mani mantras should not be done. Apart from a short nap at noon to recover, contemplate the surroundings and strictly observe retreats and so on. By meditating in this way, various experiences of samadhi arise in the three doors, all of which should be cultivated in a way that is ungrasping and self-liberating. If the meditation session is too long, too short, too tight, or too loose, each of these four will give rise to four faults such as sinking and excitement, making a total of sixteen. If there is a fault of being too long, shorten it. If there is a fault of being too short, lengthen it. If it is too tight, loosen it. If it is too loose, tighten it, and keep it in a state of mindfulness and awareness. In general, whatever faults arise, such as sinking and excitement, grasp them firmly and let them settle in the nature of the one who grasps. As soon as it is recognized, it is purified in the nature of reality without anything to grasp, and all faults are cut off at once. Recognizing the fault is like getting out of the mire, which means that the fault will disappear on its own. In short, the root of all demonic obstacles and faults lies in whether there is grasping or not. Therefore, it is crucial to remain ungrasping and uncorrected in the original state, whether it is good or bad. Therefore, it is said here to "leave it as it is," which is the actual meaning of the instruction. Recognizing with mindfulness does not turn into a fault, because mindfulness is the method, so it cuts off the view of nihilism; the essence is emptiness, which is wisdom, so it cuts off the view of eternalism; mindfulness and emptiness, without grasping, is the reality of the nature of reality. If one is unaware and clings to emptiness as an antidote, one may fall into a state of imprisoned non-conceptuality and confusion. Therefore, maintain the continuity of mindfulness of the self-purifying nature of reality. After gaining insight from experience, eliminate clinging, and without losing the radiance of mindfulness on the field of appearances, practice without bias. Other vehicles consider the understanding of the view that one desires to be "leaving it as it is," but here, before the actual view is given, meditation is taught as a method of leaving the self-born and self-purifying as it is, free from the mind of deliberate grasping. Although the words are the same, the meaning is more profound. The purpose of leaving it as it is is to cut off the continuity of habitual patterns, to obtain the samadhi of self-born and self-purifying, continuous and uninterrupted, and thus to occupy the seat of the Dharmakaya, and ultimately to be liberated in the union of sentient beings and Buddhas. The scripture says: By grasping, the key to effort is abandoned; by being together, it is maintained.
