Connected. This instruction for liberation in this lifetime has three aspects: The generation and completion stage instruction for the inferior faculties to attain Buddhahood through meditation should be understood as a method of practice. Among them, there are two types: the practice of the basis of "Trekchö" (Cutting Through) for the intermediate faculties to be liberated through realization, and the practice of the path of "Tögal" (Leaping Over) for the superior faculties to be liberated through seeing. As the tantra says, "The main practice is Trekchö and Tögal. The practice of the basis of Trekchö is..." As it is said. First, the practice of the basis of Trekchö is: Abandoning the activities and efforts of body, speech, and mind, resting loosely as in the state of returning to the original, without doing, without needing, without grasping, and guarding the meaning pointed out by the lama. Empty, clear, and unobstructed, in the very nature of the indivisibility of the three kayas, all the appearances of the six consciousnesses of the outer world, all that appears as white and red, is the self-radiance of the mind itself arising outwardly, and not coming from elsewhere, it should be recognized as the outer mind, without acceptance or rejection of appearances, resting loosely upon appearances. The movement of awareness, all the thoughts of good and bad, the five poisons, attachment and aversion, are not coming from other than the play of the empty and clear mind itself, and not being established as entities or characteristics, the essence is only emptiness itself, abiding in its own nature, it should be recognized as the inner mind, without feeling arising from thoughts, and without calculating good and bad, resting in the self-liberation of movement. The various clear and aware consciousnesses that arise from the senses and so on due to conditions, other than themselves, not coming from the outside, and not being fabricated by others, it should be recognized as the intermediate mind, resting loosely without attachment to anything. Furthermore, the dualistic thoughts of permanence and annihilation, big and small, yes and no, good and bad, container and contained, samsara and nirvana, etc., all those that are not validated by scripture, are the self-radiance of emptiness, clarity, and non-grasping itself, without distinction of outer, inner, and intermediate, etc., in the single bindu of the spontaneously accomplished three kayas, without any grasping or thought of anything, resting loosely is the key. As the tantra says, "The means of realizing this is, abandoning the efforts of body, speech, and mind, finding happiness by letting go of actions, relaxing into the nature of the seven aspects of appearance, appearances white and red are the outer mind, the movement of awareness is the inner mind, the function of the five senses is the intermediate mind, dualistic thoughts are unvalidated, emptiness, clarity, and non-grasping are..."

Mind essence is one, thus it is said. Such mind essence is also empty of the three times of past, future, and present; empty of the three places of arising, dwelling, and going; clear awareness unceasing; the appearance of external objects and the knower of internal thoughts are non-dual, it is the empty-clear Dharmakaya. As it is said in the tantra: "Mind essence is empty of past, future, and present; empty-clear awareness is unceasingly clear; appearance and knowledge are non-dual, it is the Dharmakaya." Taking the meaning of this into the path, also, the mind of outer, inner, and intermediate, as shown above, in the state of non-duality and without conceptual thought, the six aggregates are left unceasing and relaxed; the senses are left loose and uncorrected; genuine, natural, relaxed, still, only, without forcing fabrication on the mind, this is the key point. Also, as it is said in the tantra: "The six aggregates are unceasing and relaxed; the senses are left loose and free; genuine, natural, and relaxed; abiding in stillness is the only way." This is not made good by the Buddha's cleverness, nor is it corrupted by the sentient beings' cunning, therefore, from the very beginning, it is self-arisen wisdom, free from the root of the three of arising, ceasing, and abiding, free from extremes, beyond the realm of mind, and abiding. As it is said in the tantra: "Free from the root of the three of arising, ceasing, and abiding; self-arisen wisdom is good from the beginning; free from extremes, beyond the realm of mind." Such freedom from extremes and transcendence of the realm of mind also possesses the three wisdoms. As it is said in the tantra: "The essence of the ground is emptiness; the nature is clear as light; compassion appears everywhere; it abides in the manner of possessing the three wisdoms." As it is said, enlightenment does not occur by becoming a Buddha, nor does one become a sentient being by not being enlightened. From before that, the original state, the initial ground, its essence is emptiness, free from the three of arising, ceasing, and abiding; its nature is clear light; unceasing compassion appears in various ways, yet there is no degeneration from the appearance of empty-clear nakedness; empty-clear, ungrasping, the three kayas spontaneously accomplished, possessing the three wisdoms, abiding in the manner of being naturally unique and without action. This alone is the intention of the Buddha, and it cannot be sought elsewhere, because it is primordially liberated, there is no need for effortful striving, enlightenment occurs merely through realization. Thus, the nature of reality that has been present from the beginning is realized,
