At the same time, it can be accomplished, and one can freely transform the control of the mind. The second part of the root, the actual practice sequence, has three: original purity trekchö, spontaneous tögal, and introducing their meanings. The first part has two: sustaining the self-nature of the awareness abiding in the ground, and driving in the peg of view. The first is: Undefiled by the mind's impurities, the self-born awareness in an instant, transcends the realm of directions and signs, possessing the essence of clear and empty awareness, appearing primordially without change, grasping and grasper, object and subject are separate. Thus it is said, through properly mastering the uncommon preliminaries, when the foundation of shamatha meditation free from faults is established, in order to generate the wisdom of vipashyana, sit like a mountain king, binding the body in the seven dharmas of Vairochana; settle like an ocean king, gazing steadily at the space of an arrow's length without moving the eyeballs; settle like the king of awareness, without the mind being defiled by any conceptual thoughts of the three times, leaving the present awareness clear and free from grasping in its natural state of dharmata, without negation, affirmation, or fabrication, and continuously maintaining this. The impurities of the mind, which are subtle conceptual thoughts that cannot distinguish fine differences, are also purified into the expanse. This unmade, self-born awareness in an instant is not just a matter of understanding, but directly realizing the dharmakaya, thoroughly understanding it in the unborn, and uniting with one's own nature. The self-power of awareness is undiminished, and in a clear manner, various phenomena of samsara and nirvana appear. The essence of clarity is not established anywhere, therefore it is primordially empty. The very nature of union is spontaneously accomplished with the essence of self-born awareness. Since it is primordially unstained by the signs of delusion and liberation, it abides without change. Therefore, all dharmas included in samsara and nirvana are known to be established from the power of self-awareness alone, without even a particle existing elsewhere, thereby establishing it without obstruction and cutting it off in one stroke. When the antidote of the observer arises, the object of observation, emptiness, appears completely, therefore the object of grasping is empty. When the awareness of the observer looks back at itself, it is liberated into movement, emptiness, and non-arising, and appears as the wisdom of original purity, the object of grasping. Both are recognized as the view of effortless, self-liberated, luminous dharmakaya, and are determined to be non-dual in a way that perfects qualities and gains stability.

From there, practice on the liberation of abilities. When exerting those functions, in a cloudless, clear sky, restrain the way of looking by facing away from the sun. For example, by opening the emptiness and clarity of the external sky, for example, from the complete purification of the internal sky of awareness, the secret, luminous, vajra-essence sky, the nature of reality that transcends boundaries and center, the essence of clear and empty awareness, will instantly appear. Second, driving in the stake of intention: Emaho! Cyclic existence, transcendence, appearances, existence, phenomena, from the very moment they arise, are self-liberated. The stake of intention, unmoving in cutting through solidity, drive it into the realm of great equanimity. Thus it is said, if the profound four key points are not understood, and if they are understood, one abides in the Buddha himself, which is wonderfully amazing. Although the phenomena of appearance and existence, encompassed by cyclic existence and transcendence, arise in various ways, from the very moment they arise, they are unborn, liberated in their own place, the dharmakaya of the abiding reality. When the certainty of the original purity and cutting through solidity becomes conviction, and no circumstance or appearance can shake it, then the king of yogis has realized his own ground. Therefore, drive the unchangeable stake of intention into the realm of great equanimity of samsara and nirvana, and initiate the conduct of great perfection on the path. Second, explaining the practice of Tögal, there are four: preliminaries, main practice, daily practice, and the arising of appearances and experiences, along with accompanying circumstances. The first is: the activities of body, speech, and mind should be abandoned in ninefold. In terms of body, external worldly deluded actions, internal circumambulation and virtuous activities, secret movements of the magical wheel, etc., all distractions should be abandoned, and one should abide alone. In terms of speech, external worldly idle talk of various kinds, internal recitation and repetition, secret manipulation of the winds, etc., should also be abandoned, and one should abide without speaking. In terms of mind, external worldly conceptual thoughts, internal generation and completion stage mind-holding, secret dissipation of thoughts, all should be abandoned, and one should abide in a state of non-thought. Second, the main practice also has two: restraining the key points of the three doors, and relying on the four key points to bring about manifest realization in one's own experience. The first is: Without wavering from that intention, the key point of the body is to abide in the posture of the three kayas, the key point of speech is to learn to move slowly, the key point of mind is not to stray from its own course. Thus it is said, because without cutting through solidity, one cannot leap over the summit, it is something to be done. The realization of cutting through solidity is stable.
