The meaning is: If the mind follows after past thoughts, anticipates future thoughts, clings to experiences, or suppresses thoughts, then faults will arise. If one does not stray from ordinary awareness, does not meditate, does not fabricate, does not alter, and abides in the state of seeing things as they are, then there will be no fear of going astray or incurring faults. As it says in the Buddha Samyoga Tantra: "Without fabrication, without alteration, let it rest in its own place, There is no cause to fall into faults or straying. Whoever meditates in a state without fabrication or alteration, There is no doubt that they will attain Dharmakaya enlightenment. The nature of unbornness is the state of space, In this primordially pure Dharmakaya, there is nothing to do." Thus, abide in the state of no meditation. As it is said. In order to enhance it, one should emphasize devotion to the guru, prioritize solitary retreats and practice, and through secret conduct and hidden asceticism, trample upon whatever phenomena arise. Sometimes, one should read and contemplate profound sutras and tantras, and discuss with experienced Dharma friends the experiences that arise within oneself. All doubts and additions should be resolved within oneself. Generate certainty in the nature of one's own mind's realization. Tame appearances and leave whatever arises as it is. Whatever good or bad circumstances arise, do not reject them, but blend them with the nature of realization within those circumstances. So it is said. Second, knowing that appearances are the play of mind: When viewed in this way, no matter what thoughts of good or bad, pleasure or pain arise, if one does not lose the state of awareness, then one will never stray from the play of Dharmata, which is naturally arising and naturally liberating. As it says in the Wondrous King Tantra: "Just like the waves of the ocean, All the moving waves of the mind, Dissolve into the ocean of the primordial ground." Matchless Dagpo (Dagpo Lhaje) said: "If ordinary awareness is not distracted, All memories and thoughts are awareness, There is no need to see them as faults." As it is said, therefore, there is no meditation of non-thought by abandoning thoughts, but rather one should leave whatever arises in its natural, unaltered state. Third, abiding in the state of non-duality and equality: While abiding, it appears in various ways, but although it appears, one is free from clinging to it. No matter how it is described, for what has become manifest, like the awareness of a young child, there is no acceptance or rejection, no hope or fear. From the beginning, it is the nature that cannot be bound or liberated by anyone, so there is no need to liberate it again now, and clinging thoughts aris

Once liberated immediately, there is no need to seek remedies. When seen nakedly, it is already liberated, without prior or subsequent clinging. All good and bad are directly and completely liberated, realizing that there is no need for acceptance or rejection, and one also obtains these four great assurances. There is no need to seek a good meditation elsewhere, nor is there a need to specifically abandon bad thoughts; this is as excellent as going to Suvarṇadvīpa. Therefore, the holy ones said: The initial awareness, its own nature is its own Dharmakāya. Let your mind remain in a natural state like a young child. Do not meditate on anything; attain the result through non-doing. Ordinary awareness, the true nature, hold onto your own ground. Thus it was said. At this time, practicing the skill by mixing with circumstances through the seven doors of introduction spoken from the Vajrahṛdaya's own teachings, there are seven. First, introducing thoughts as mind: Offer the tsokhor and maṇḍala. If the meaning of meditation becomes vast, then introduce at this time: The root of afflictions and self-grasping, these very thoughts arise from the mind; they do not transcend the mind, they do not waver from the mind; divide the aggregates of afflictive thoughts into the Saṃsāra of self-falling and the Nirvāṇa of self-liberation. An additional instruction is: Thus, without separating from the remedy of the aggregates of thoughts, if all the aggregates of thoughts are allowed to expand into self-liberation, then thoughts are the play of the Dharmakāya; experience the meaning as it is. Second, introducing the mind as emptiness: Thus, all aggregates of thoughts, without substance, nature, or characteristics, are emptiness, like the sky. An additional instruction is: Whatever thoughts of the five poisons or self-grasping arise, by looking at their essence, make effort to see the meaning of unborn. Third, introducing emptiness as appearance: Thus, from the self-radiance of emptiness, unobstructed energy appears as anything; all aggregates of appearing thoughts are the self-radiance of emptiness, so there is no need to deliberately pursue them. The instruction is: By maintaining the self-face of emptiness, whatever unobstructed energy appears, take it as the play of self-liberation on the path. Fourth, introducing appearance and emptiness as non-dual: All good and bad thoughts have no substance, they are emptiness; from the self-radiance of emptiness, everything appears, good and bad are free from acceptance and rejection, appearance and emptiness are non-dual.
