Therefore, by settling down, all appearances vanish without clinging, and one's own mind becomes clear, limpid, and refreshed. Sometimes, like clouds rising in the sky, when appearances arise suddenly without ceasing, settling on that very spot will lead to self-liberation. If appearances arise from one's own continuum and do not liberate, that is called "suppressing appearances in the ālaya," which means focusing single-pointedly and without distraction on whatever arises. Just as walking on a mirage makes it disappear, simply looking at thoughts makes them naturally empty. Similarly, focusing on all thoughts makes them naturally liberate. Therefore, simply remaining in an uncorrected state is like ice melting into water. Since self-nature is not established as a real entity in the mind, it will liberate into emptiness. If one grasps appearances as real and existing, that is eternalism; if one grasps them as non-existent, that is nihilism, falling into wrong views. Appearances are mind, and mind is emptiness. If it were not emptiness, it could not appear in various forms. Knowing that the power of emptiness can manifest anything, and that all appearances of grasper and grasped liberate into emptiness, arising from no root, no basis, and no direction, like a rainbow in the sky without support, it will go towards self-liberation. Even knowing that appearances are empty, it does not mean that there will be no appearances. Even when they appear, knowing that their self-nature is empty is called the wisdom of realizing emptiness. Thus, once the meaning of emptiness is realized, no matter how thoughts arise, just as wind aids the fire when a forest fire spreads, the power of emptiness will emerge again, becoming a support for generating certainty, and becoming a lamp for blazing experience. Second, guiding on the single reality: The tantra says, "Even if various things appear, the nature of mind liberates into emptiness." This means that although various appearances occur externally, they do not exist independently apart from arising from the mind, therefore they are empty. In the middle, one's own body is also the same; it is not established in ultimate truth, therefore it is empty. Internally, the grasping consciousness is also the same; it is not established as "this is it," therefore it is empty. Therefore, if one examines everything, there is no real object, therefore it is guided into emptiness. Thus, saying that everything is empty does not mean a nihilistic emptiness without substance, but rather that self-nature is luminous, and awareness exists without interruption. Mind is not mind, but rather the self-nature of mind is luminosity, luminosity.
