Introducing awareness as being like the sky. Thus, by realizing the essence of appearances and mind being free from the three aspects of arising, ceasing, and abiding, the ultimate view is determined. Introducing this awareness as the Nirmanakaya is: one's own mind manifests as six different phenomena, and immediately upon manifesting, it merges into the mind. Again, from that, one generates a single thought of whatever one desires, and because it appears as what is generated, it is called the body of path appearance. Having realized that one's own appearances are mind, one gains autonomy over birth and entering. By diligently practicing this, one will ultimately attain the Nirmanakaya of the Buddha, appearing in whatever way is necessary to tame beings. Then, secondly, establishing the meaning determined by the view through meditation is introducing the emptiness of mind as the Dharmata Sambhogakaya: if one does not realize that the mind is empty, even if one recognizes appearances as mind, one will not be able to liberate appearances and will become attached to characteristics. Therefore, establishing this emptiness is: in terms of the view, abiding in the nature of appearances being recognized as mind, which is separate from the three aspects of arising, ceasing, and abiding, without anything to be meditated upon through conceptualization or the mind. Without complacency that it is merely appearance, by remaining undistracted in that very nature, all appearances will vanish without clinging, and one's own mind will become clear, bright, and spacious. Sometimes, like clouds appearing in the sky, because appearances have not ceased, thoughts will suddenly arise. By placing that thought upon that very nature, it will liberate in its own place. If it does not liberate in its own place, but there are appearances of one's own continuum to arise, it is called suppressing appearances, focusing single-pointedly and without distraction on whatever appears, just as going upon a mirage will cause it to disappear. Simply by looking at thoughts, they will become empty without inherent existence. Similarly, by focusing on all thoughts, they will liberate without inherent existence. Therefore, simply by abiding in the uncorrected nature, like ice melting into water, because inherent existence is not established as a real entity in the mind, it will liberate into emptiness. In the tantra it says: "Simply by focusing on that, it will liberate from its own nature without root or basis. If it were a real entity, how could it appear?" Therefore, it is said that thoughts arise in the mind, and because the mind is empty, no real entity appears. Knowing that appearances are empty. If it were not empty, it would not be possible for various things to appear. Therefore, appearing without basis, root, or direction, like a rainbow in the sky without support.

Just like that, one goes to liberation. Like this, once one understands the meaning of emptiness, no matter how thoughts arise, just like when a fire spreads in a forest, the wind becomes an ally, it will instead bring forth the power of emptiness and become a support for generating certainty, becoming an inspiration for blazing experiences. The scripture says, "Emptiness is unobstructed, whatever arises, arises as emptiness from emptiness." Therefore, if all the appearances of grasping and being grasped are not liberated into emptiness, then stopping thoughts is like demolishing a house, it cannot be destroyed. The difference between outsiders and insiders arises from whether the mind is liberated into emptiness or not. Appearance is the nature of emptiness, if one believes that appearance is truly existent, that is eternalism; if one believes that appearance is non-existent, that is nihilism, thus falling into wrong views. Here, it is not that appearance will not arise, but that even if it arises, one should know that its nature is emptiness, this is the wisdom of realizing emptiness. The scripture says, "Various appearances arise, the nature of mind is liberated into emptiness." Therefore, as long as one knows that the mind is without attachment and empty, that is the realization of emptiness. To directly point out its reality is: although various things appear in the external environment, they are empty because they do not exist separately from arising from the mind. In the middle, one's own body also does not truly exist in the ultimate sense, so it is empty. The internal grasping consciousness also does not exist as this, so it is empty. Therefore, if one examines everything, one will find that there is no substance, thus pointing it out as emptiness. Like this, saying that everything is empty is not starting from the absence of things, but is a nihilistic emptiness, because the nature is clear light, and awareness exists without interruption. The mind is not the mind, but the clear light of the nature of the mind, pointing it out as clear emptiness like the sky. Like this, once one realizes that all appearances have no self-nature, meditation reaches its ultimate conclusion. Pointing it out as the Sambhogakaya is: no matter how self-appearance arises, one should know that it has no substance and is originally empty. Clearly it is empty, yet there is unobstructed enjoyment, so it is the Sambhogakaya of power manifestation. When its power is perfected, one ultimately attains the stainless perfect Sambhogakaya and becomes a Buddha. Then, third, by practicing the power of action through meditation itself, pointing out the Dharmakaya of self-liberation of emptiness, decisive and final, is: mind and appearance are non-dual.
