Therefore, for those filled with doubt, there is never a time for results to arise. For example, like cutting off the backwater of a self-grinding mill. While experiencing the separation of the empty-clear, uncompounded awareness-wisdom from the mind, being free from all extremes of expression. Past thoughts cease, future thoughts do not arise, and this ordinary consciousness of the present should not be valued. Cultivating the state of the Dharmakaya, which transcends the three times, free from the thoughts of the three times, and not being defiled by the turbidity of thoughts, simply remembering clearly, slightly aware, and then remaining quietly, this is the fourfold way: deciding with view, experiencing with meditation, enhancing with conduct, and the manner in which the signs of the result appear. The first is, according to the Vajra verses of the root text: Thus, all appearances are fabricated by the mind, the consciousness with arising feelings, appears as non-existent, its essence transcends the realm of thought, each sees without reliance with self-cognizant wisdom, is the reality of all dharmas, primordially pure, deeply clear, uncompounded. Thus, all appearances of external objects are imputed and fabricated by the mind, and are not established from the object's own side. The inner mind with arising feelings, appears as non-existent, like a dream. The essence of that mind, the nature of awareness-emptiness, uncompounded, transcends the realm of thought. It cannot be realized by reason and logic, etc., each with self-cognizant wisdom, without the support of consciousness. Not stained by grasping and apprehending, and seeing without being confused by the thoughts of object and subject, is the reality of all dharmas, the nature of complete purity from the very beginning, deeply clear, abiding inseparably from the Dharmakaya of the Buddha. The essence of being uncompounded by causes and conditions is primordially pure, and the nature is spontaneously accomplished. These two abide inseparably in essence, seeing with awareness without modification, making a thorough decision, this is deciding with view. The second is experiencing with meditation: Continuing from the above, having understood in this way, one should practice sky yoga, and practice not separating from the meaning in a non-meditative way. Thus, once awareness is recognized, one should abide in the same way as the sky, without distinguishing between knower and known, object and subject, and practice sky yoga. Not with grasper and grasped

One should meditate in a way that awareness is inseparable from its own nature, through the method of meditation. Third, enhancing (realization) through conduct: Furthermore, when the appearances of the six consciousnesses arise clearly, one should not analyze them, but rather relax effort in the state of the nature of reality itself, and act like someone who has completed their task. This is mainly the practice of post-meditation. Whatever appearances of the six external consciousnesses arise, one should not engage in any rejection or acceptance. Because one does not cling to external appearances, the objects of perception are purified in their own place. The external appearances do not cease. Since inner clinging does not enter, the inner mind abides in a state free from clinging, and therefore inner clinging is purified in its own place. In between, when awareness is placed in an unaltered state, then in between, one should act like someone who has completed their task, in the state of recognizing the self-face of clear light. Fourth, the way the signs of the result appear: Furthermore, at that time, the signs of controlling the wind-mind will also arise effortlessly, and because the superior seeing of clear light is accomplished, one will abide in peace. When the mind is controlled, the wind is controlled. When the wind is controlled, relying on the three—the wind-mind entering, abiding, and dissolving into the central channel—the external signs, such as smoke, sparks, and so on, will appear in the sky. Gradually becoming accustomed to this, one will accomplish the superior seeing of the self-born wisdom of clear light. Fourth, the appearances of the result are naturally present: The nature of awareness can only be known through the blessings of the lama. In between, when the self-power of awareness is grasped, then whatever thoughts arise, they will naturally vanish without a trace, like a snake's knot or a drawing on water. This is the perfection of skill. Ultimately, when samatha and vipassanā are mixed into one taste, and there is no good or bad in thoughts, then one has attained stability. Therefore, the pith instructions of Garab Dorje's three words strike the essential point: directly entrusting awareness to oneself, cutting through decisively, and settling into the confidence of liberation. The key point of the meaning is the same. Therefore, it is very important to always meditate with awareness in an unaltered state. No matter how much one understands or how much one explains, it only increases conceptual thoughts, so practicing with one-pointedness is the most crucial point. Third, the instructions on the spontaneous arising of post-illusion appearances as wisdom have four parts: The body does not move, taking the three postures as the basis; speech does not speak, entrusting to the object with the three ways of looking.
