These are the methods of observing the limbs and senses of others to determine the time of death of others. This is about others. The method for a yogi to observe omens for his own benefit and determine their accuracy is: before all these, first accumulate merit for the lama, and then observe these. That is, observe whether the impermanent image in the sky realm has disappeared; observe whether the connection between heaven and earth in the space realm has been broken; observe whether the person riding the white lion on the side of Mount Meru has come down; observe whether the waist of the trees at the junction of the mountains and valleys has been broken; observe whether the clouds of the ocean water have disappeared; observe whether the smoke of the practitioners in the city on the earth has been interrupted; observe whether the unchanging sun on the top of Mount Meru has set; observe whether the sound of the dakinis inside Mount Meru has been interrupted; observe whether the demon of the Lord of Death has stretched out one arm from the leaves of the wish-fulfilling tree. Gya gya gya! The method of observing the impermanent image in the sky realm is: in the morning or afternoon of a clear sky, concentrate your mind on the mark of a stone or wood in the heart of your shadow, stand upright, stretch out your limbs, hold the symbolic object in your hand, look at the shadow for a long time, and then cast your consciousness into the sky realm in that way. If you observe your own image, and its limbs are complete and match the color of the clothes you are wearing, then know that that person has no obstacles to life. The signs of life are like this: determine the time of death according to what is missing and remaining, and identify the demons according to the color.

Like being wrapped in a corpse, or appearing as a triangle, even the Great Compassionate One cannot dispel it. Therefore, abiding in emptiness is the most excellent. If the color turns white and disappears from the center, it is a sign of being possessed by the ghosts of dragons and kings. If it turns black and disappears from the right side, it is a sign of being possessed by the ghosts of demons and mothers. If it turns red and disappears from the left side, it is a sign of being possessed by the tsen spirit and one's own Dharma protector or guardian deity. If it turns yellow and disappears from below, it is a sign of being possessed by dragon tsen and evil spirits. If it turns blue and disappears downwards from the feet, it is being possessed by a dragon or a sea goddess. If it appears dark and hazy, it is especially being possessed by mothers and Yama. If it appears yellowish and fluttering, it is being possessed by the earth deity. If it appears mottled and flickering, it is being possessed by the ghosts of various death spirits.
