With this great and melodious sound of drums, by offering it to you, the Dharma-protecting King, may the world be filled with the sound of Dharma from everywhere, and may your fame resound like thunder in the sky! Hūṃ (藏文：ཧཱུྃ，梵文天城体：हुं，梵文罗马拟音：hūṃ，汉语字面意思：吽)! This imperishable banner, the lifeline of the teachings, by offering it to you, the Dharma-protecting King, may the Buddha's teachings flourish and spread, and may the supreme Dharma banner be raised high! Hūṃ (藏文：ཧཱུྃ，梵文天城体：हुं，梵文罗马拟音：hūṃ，汉语字面意思：吽)! This silk fringe that subdues the three realms, by offering it to you, the Dharma-protecting King, may the king's power and merit increase and flourish, and may all sentient beings be happy and joyful! Gather many good and extensive dialogues that generate Bodhicitta, sharpen the edge of wisdom, for interdependence is key, increase dignity and the splendor of the mind. At this time, the king should be ripened by the empowerment of the Great Vehicle. If the outer empowerment of Yoga is given, then the Dharma of cause will flourish in the kingdom. If the inner empowerment of secret mantra is given, then the Dharma of the true fruit will flourish. The concluding actions are: the king's six treasures of decree, the precious life-essence, together with a string of jewels, should be placed in the king's palace, and should not be enjoyed by the common people who are not Dharma-protecting kings. Offerings should be made regularly. With this radiant jewel of sovereignty, when the king's auspicious month rises, the enthronement ceremony should be held for the king every year. This radiant jewel of sovereignty for the enthronement of the king was extracted by the Abbot Padmasambhava of Oddiyana from the tantra of the gathering of elements, and hidden in a red copper box in the waist of a rocky mountain resembling a pile of poisonous snakes for the sake of the Gungthang King. It was entrusted to the treasure lord Nyenchen Thanglha. O great one, in a single day, long periods of happiness and suffering can occur, so please adorn yourself well with ornaments and insignia. Please have the noble intention of making the Tibetan kingdom happy and prosperous. The king tied a five-colored silk turban on his head, wore a white silk la'u, fastened a golden belt, and wore a deep blue cloak in the style of a ber yang. He wore golden shoes marked with a crossed vajra, and carried a golden vase filled with five precious substances in his hand. As he approached, Khenpo Bodhisattva and Guru Padmasambhava came to greet him, offering auspicious blessings. Guru Padmasambhava said, "Great King, the external circumstances are very auspicious. What are your intentions today?" The king said, "Venerable Master, I am the Dharma-protecting king. Please allow me to establish the Dharma in the Tibetan kingdom." The master said, "Listen, lord of Tibet, for the sake of protecting the king from obstacles, I will teach six secret instructions. By accumulating the two accumulations of merit and wisdom, you were born as a Dharma-protecting king. After teaching these six profound instructions, you will be able to protect your kingdom. If you do not understand the law of karma, you are not a Dharma-protecting king. Therefore, accept and reject cause and effect. If you do not subdue obstacles and demonic forces, there will be no lasting dominion. Therefore, practice Vajrakilaya. If you do not understand the descent of blessings and power, power will not grow infinitely. Therefore, invoke the king of power. If you do not make laws well, indulgence will destroy the kingdom. Therefore, follow the teachings of Shakyamuni. If ministers are not skilled in strategy, it will harm internal and external affairs. Therefore, be careful in choosing ministers. If you do not offer good advice yourself, biased friends will destroy politics. Therefore, handle affairs yourself. King, if your six symbols are combined with my six instructions, auspiciousness and happiness will last long." Guru said, "King, are these garments and symbols of yours passed down from your ancestors? Or is it for a new auspicious connection?" The king said, "Venerable Master, my father Trisong Detsen."
