在已作且无有变异的法界中，一切胜者皆以意之密意无别一体的自性而安住，不互相是异体，为了彼智慧之自力无碍而显现任何事物，为了调伏与所化有情心续相应的，调伏者的寂静与忿怒相的无量无边坛城海，而作幻化，为了调伏恶毒者们，幻化为一切忿怒尊之总主大殊胜黑汝嘎及五种智慧各自的自力身语意功德事业五者的自性，幻化为五部之各自忿怒尊，彼等神之各自自力与种姓及意乐无有差别的龙、凶、地主的对治者，现起为空行自在之身者，乃是智慧之大鹏鸟。 在玛垂萨湖之北方，有极高的树名叫希玛拉树，其顶端有四种大鹏鸟筑巢，以及须弥山顶端的三十三天神之境的如意树木等，须弥山之阶梯与七金山之顶端等处安住，并吞食居住于海中之龙、凶、地主一切作为食物和饮料，成为断命之死神，成为世间一切飞禽之王，名为善翼大鹏鸟，或名空行自在，或名虚空飞翔等，乃是往昔之业与愿力之威力所成就的世间大鹏鸟。 此处乃是浊世之有情烦恼极其粗重，依赖恶劣之业行，为了救护从不堪忍受之剧烈疾病魔障所困之痛苦，本体是智慧之忿怒尊之王，显现为降龙大鹏鸟之相，力量强大且成就迅速。 不仅是龙、凶、地主之对治者，而且对于苯教、巫师的诅咒、朵玛、镇压、恶语、驱使等一切遮止的力量尤为强大，以及平息瘟疫、战争、神鬼之大灾、星宿之作祟、旱灾与凶兆等一切衰败、恐惧，具有摧毁一切之猛烈力量的神，此殊胜之神，在新旧一切修法中皆有，此处是旧派的。

In the realm that is made and free from change, all the victorious ones abide in the nature of the inseparable one taste of the mind's intention, not being different from each other. Because the self-power of that wisdom is unceasing and manifests in any way, in order to subdue beings whose minds are compatible, the peaceful and wrathful forms of the subduing deities manifest as a vast ocean of mandalas. To subdue the wicked, the chief of all wrathful ones, the Great Supreme Heruka, and the self-power of the five wisdoms, the embodiment of the five aspects of body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities, manifest as the individual wrathful ones of the five families. The self-power of those deities, inseparable from their respective families and intentions, is the antidote to nagas, nyen spirits, and earth lords, arising as the form of Garuda, the lord of space, which is the wisdom Garuda. To the north of Lake Matrö, there is a very tall tree called the Shalmali tree, on top of which four kinds of Garudas build their nests. They dwell on the summit of Mount Meru, in the land of the thirty-three gods, among the wish-fulfilling trees, and on the terraces of Mount Meru and the summits of the seven golden mountains. They devour and drink all the nagas, nyen spirits, and earth lords dwelling in the ocean, becoming the executioners of life, the destroyers of life. They are the king of all winged creatures in the world, the great Garuda with good wings, or the Lord of Space, or known as Sky Soaring, etc., which are worldly Garudas accomplished through the power of past karma and aspirations. Here, in this degenerate age, beings' afflictions are very coarse, relying on evil deeds. In order to save them from the suffering of unbearable fierce diseases and demonic obstacles, the very essence of the King of Wrathful Wisdom arises in the form of the Naga-slaying Garuda, which is powerful and quick to accomplish. Not only is it the antidote to nagas, nyen spirits, and earth lords, but it also has particularly great power to avert all curses, phurba projections, torma offerings, suppressions, evil speech, and expulsions of Bonpos and sorcerers. It also has the fierce power and strength to cut off all epidemics, wars, great disturbances of gods and demons, astrological influences, droughts, and bad omens, and all kinds of decline and fear. This extraordinary deity has methods of accomplishment in all new and old traditions, but here it is from the Nyingma tradition. And within that...

From the three transmissions of Kama (oral teachings), Terma (treasure teachings), and Dagnang (pure visions), this is a Terma. Among the Terma teachings that have emerged from all the treasures, containing the sadhana (practice method) and activity practices, this one is particularly profound and extensive. As it says in our own tradition: "I, Padmakara, have subdued many evil nagas and concealed many treasures, but in terms of profound ultimate secrecy, there is nothing more hidden than this. This is as precious as his heart. May it meet with a karmically connected child!" Having instructed thus, this treasure was hidden in the secret cave of the Dakinis in Dokham (Eastern Tibet), in the solitary place of Bathang Shingyalwa (a mountain), in the treasure of the Sindhu River. From the Dharma teachings of the Lion-faced Dakini Subduing Demons, brought forth by the great treasure revealer Mati Ratna, the reincarnation of the powerful Kharchhen Palgyi Wangchuk, the empowerment of the greatly blessed "Garuda Practice, Black Mother Who Subdues Demons," is now being practiced. First, in order to request the profound empowerment from the inseparable presence of the Lama and the main deity of the mandala, the embodiment of the qualities of all the Buddhas, the Sky-Soaring Vajra Great Garuda, offer a mandala as a fee. Thus it is indicated. Having offered the mandala in this way, please repeat this prayer: Ema Lama Heruka! Qualities and blessings are wondrous! In order to subdue the earth lords, nagas, and fierce spirits, please bless us with the power of the wrathful king, the mighty Great Garuda! Recite three times. Then the Lama says: Ema, fortunate ones with samaya! Do you abide by your vows and are able to practice? Those without vows, with wrong views, distracted, and with dualistic thoughts, depart! After hearing the question, repeat this answer: Ema Lama Heruka! I am one with samaya and diligence! As you say, I will practice! Please grant the profound empowerment! Thus request. In the sky in front, visualize the wisdom Great Garuda of the five families, surrounded by the Buddhas and their retinues, take refuge and generate bodhichitta, and repeat this: Hung! Lama is the treasure of blessings, Yidam deity is the treasure of accomplishments, To the Dakinis of approach, accomplishment, and activity, Until enlightenment, I take refuge! Recite three times.
