To settle in Suchness, to abide equally in the nature of reality. The first has three parts: the external object to be grasped, the internal mind that grasps, and searching and examining the nature of the mind. The first is: From the Lankavatara Sutra: "The mind disturbed by habit, Manifests as objects. They are not real, but the nature of mind itself, Seeing external objects is a mistake." And from the Avatamsaka Sutra: "O sons of the Victorious Ones, these three realms are only mind." And from the Bodhicharyavatara: "Who made the iron burning ground? From where did those flames arise? Therefore, the Sage said that all of them are the creation of a sinful mind." As it is endlessly stated in the scriptures and treatises, the external world of containers is made up of the four elements, and all the internal sentient beings are included in the four types of birth. All of these are just the appearance of one's own mind's delusion appearing externally. There is not even a particle that is truly established elsewhere. For example, in a dream, the forms of Mount Meru, houses, men and women, horses, cattle, etc., and happiness and joy, unhappiness and suffering, fear and terror, etc., no matter how much one dreams, they are purely delusional appearances, and none of them are real. Although they are not real, because one does not know that the dream itself is a dream, one experiences happiness, suffering, fear, terror, etc. Similarly, these present appearances are not real, but one acts in delusion. If one knows that these are false delusional appearances, then the root of conventional delusion will collapse, and one will realize that appearance itself is mind. Therefore, one should examine it carefully. Secondly, examining the internal grasping mind, if all external appearances are mind, then is the internal grasping mind truly established? If one thinks so, then it is not truly established either. The continuum of mind is made up of moments and many moments, and no one has ever seen it, and because there is no object, mind is not established. From the Sutra Requested by Light-Protected: "Light-Protected, mind is not inside, nor is it outside, nor is it found between the two. Light-Protected, mind is unsearchable, unspeakable, unsupported, invisible, without consciousness, without abiding. Light-Protected, mind is not seen, not seen, and will not be seen by all the Buddhas."

Raro! Thus it is said. In reality, what is called "mind" is nothing more than thoughts arising suddenly and vanishing in an instant. For example, like clouds rising from the sky, clouds suddenly appear from the empty nature of the sky. Just as the clouds disappear into emptiness without going anywhere, the movement of thoughts arises from the state of emptiness. If you count the arising and ceasing of these thoughts that naturally disappear in emptiness, you are completely mistaken. In the midst of nothingness, The suddenly arising awareness grasps at "I" or "self" for a moment, and thus the self of the person arises. If you are convinced and certain that this self does not exist in reality at all, then you have realized the selflessness of the person. The former has actually established the meaning of the selflessness of phenomena. Third, searching for and examining the nature of mind: Because the existence of the two selves is merely imputed and has no real substance, it might be thought that the nature of mind is also empty and nonexistent, but this is not the case. If the apprehended and the apprehender were originally real and then disappeared later, they could be considered nonexistent. However, since all phenomena are not inherently established from the beginning, they transcend both extremes of existence and nonexistence. As the Lankavatara Sutra says: "External objects are neither existent nor nonexistent, the mind is also not grasped as real, all views are completely abandoned, this is the nature of non-arising." Also, as the Mother Sutra says: "Mind has no mind, the nature of mind is luminosity." Saraha says: "Clinging to existence is like the behavior of an animal, clinging to nonexistence is even more foolish." As such, by carefully examining the nature of one's own mind, it is not existent because it does not possess shape, color, object, or any characteristics. It is also not nonexistent because the basis for the various appearances of samsara and nirvana is simply clear awareness, which is never interrupted. If you think that the mind is multiple, that is also not the case because all appearances are of one taste in emptiness. It is also not singular because the appearances of the six consciousnesses are clearly visible, so it should be recognized as having a nature that is free from all elaboration. The second meaning, settling evenly in the state of reality: In this way, first briefly using discriminating wisdom to examine, and then settling evenly on the basis of having gained certainty about reality.
