It is easy to find and quick to accomplish. It is needed nearby and is close to the heart. Its scope is vast and its power is sharp. Its support is good and its confidence is great. Like a lion roaring like a dragon, there is no fear or timidity. Entrust it to the nine powerful Dharma protectors, entrust the management to you, Jomo. When the time comes for a single need, like a son taking his father's wealth, the treasure revealer on the forehead... a halo, one with the colors of a peacock's tail feathers, will come from the east and entrust it. Wind, bile, phlegm, etc., are the medicine to defeat all epidemics. Nourishing, warming, aiding digestion, replenishing human deficiencies, dispelling demons, growing flesh, cutting decay, accomplishing, and increasing auspiciousness, it is the supreme medicine blessed by the Buddhas. Five families, six tastes, eight qualities, possessing three after-effects, it destroys diseases. It is the water that extinguishes the fire of epidemics. Its qualities cannot be fully expressed. Other names are "all-pervading," "saltpeter ash," the horse of all, and "without mental taste." Haritaki is the supreme of medicines... Aru golden color. Its name and qualities are inconceivable. Whatever combination is made, take half of this as the basis. This is the chapter on the beginning of the biography. A summary of the general meaning of epidemics: cause, condition, essence, definition, characteristics, classification, and methods of treatment. The cause is the disturbance of the eight classes, and the breath of those with poison, from which various inauspicious things arise. The condition is various wrongdoings. The essence is all feverish diseases. The definition is that it enters gradually. The classification is a mixture of wind, bile, and phlegm, as well as internal heat, brain fever, confused children, and lung disease, blood disease, madness.

Mucus disease will make the body and consciousness heavy. Poor appetite, discomfort in the stomach and liver. Vomiting, slow consciousness. The symptoms of mixed diseases are shown as mixed. When leprosy does not have mixed symptoms: If red spots appear: Brain pain, headache like a split. The eyes will look up. Coma, unclear consciousness. Sometimes it is ubiquitous, with slight pain in the head. Lung heat disease will cause various discomforts in the head and body: Cough, difficulty breathing, hoarse throat, fever. Blood heat disease will cause chest and rib pain. Head and body will have fever. Mental confusion is a sudden serious illness. It is caused by infectious diseases and demons. The chapter on characteristics ends. There are four methods of treatment: Diet, behavior, medicine, and treatment. For wind disease, give bone broth and fresh meat. In severe cases, mix bone wine and concentrated essence. Massage with pebbles in the morning and evening. Apply oil to the four acupoints. The best medicine is half the amount of Hyoscyamus niger. Laxatives, emetics, and bloodletting are similar to poisons. When the pain is severe, use moxibustion. Bile heat disease is given cool and easily digestible food. Avoid sunlight and strenuous activities. The best medicines are small amounts of poison, gold, and Sophora flavescens. Sweating, hydrotherapy, bloodletting. In short, everything should be cool. For phlegm heat disease, eat old grains. Fish, sheep, yak, wild animal meat, and wine. Give soup made from bone marrow. Wear warm clothes and keep warm moderately. The best medicines are a mixture of Aconitum and mustard seeds. Emesis and Mongolian moxibustion are performed. Do not bleed even if there is a headache. For wind, bile, and phlegm: On the ninth, seventh, and eleventh days: Give yogurt, which is nectar. If given undigested, it will become poison. For leprosy, reduce food, and let the steam of the bone marrow soup dissipate. Behavior should be cool, and rest slowly. The best medicines are Calculus bovis and cinnabar, as well as saffron and powdered sugar. Perform cool fumigation and bloodletting at the painful area. The same goes for brain pain. Do not bleed in a coma, give the best medicines, as well as white sandalwood and white radish. The behavior and food for lung heat disease should be cool. The best medicines are cinnabar, asafoetida, as well as Aconitum carmichaelii, zedoary, and turmeric.
