The internal symptoms are of the four elements: Wind fever is gray and fluffy, the swelling is impermanent, sometimes throbbing, sometimes stopping, the abdomen is like being filled with yogurt water. Fire fever is red and the pain is severe, spreading quickly and possessing heat, like a palace of fire. Water fever is swollen and soft, worsening when lying down, cool and low in temperature, with blisters, like a turquoise lake. Earth fever is hard and congealed, the swelling is stable, the color is black, the head is flat, like being covered with the mouth of a jar. There are also two types: fever and severe fever. Fever has a lot of steam, escapes quickly, the stabbing pain is severe, and it clings to the pulse. Severe fever belongs to the fire category, the swelling is large, angry at the surroundings and scattered. It is also called the nine-headed carbuncle. If the disease still cannot be determined, the secret substance examination method is: mix rhubarb and dirty water, apply it to the swelling, if it throbs, that's it. Pierce the four directions and the center five positions of the swelling with animal-born "tuma", then apply salt and butter to the center, if red spots appear in the patient's navel, that's it.
