When the earth element moves, focus your mind and recite twenty-one times. It will become undisturbed and abide in its own place. Then, when the breath goes out, with the sound of Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ།, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hūṃ), from the bindu of the heart, five rays of light emanate, emerging from the Dhūti and pervading the container and its contents. When it is purified and comes inward, the container and its contents are gathered into the form of light, with the sound of Oṃ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ།, Devanagari: ओं, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Oṃ), from the Dhūti, it is absorbed into the bindu of the heart. Consider the breath to abide with the sound of Āḥ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: Āḥ). Thus, by meditating with one-pointedness, the breath flows constantly in equilibrium, and then the number of occurrences of arising and entering, without being examined, will naturally flow clearly, becoming subtle. For a long time, combine it with the recitation of the letter A (Tibetan: ཨ་, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A). At that time, the breath ceases, and from the bindu, other appearances subside, and a clear emptiness like a cloudless sky arises. When accustomed to this, with Vajra recitation, unlike the previous signs, the breath abides in the central channel, and stable signs such as mirages gradually arise. The sign of a cloudless sky is, if you see this, it is a sign of habituation. The meaning of what was said is that this is breath yoga. It is like a blind horse of breath, and consciousness is like a person who cannot discern direction, therefore their actions are the same. It is important that the breath, the mount of the mind, is integrated into control. Therefore, when practicing, bind the body posture and the key points of the channels as before. First, perform the Vajra body yoga, and when the mind is focused on the indestructible bindu at the navel, due to the stimulation of the lower breath, the bindu at the navel is drawn up to the heart chakra like a pill, like a bee hovering over the stamen of a flower, in the center of the Dharma wheel, the sound of the letter Hrīḥ (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Devanagari: ह्रीः, Romanized Sanskrit: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hrīḥ) is emitted, think that it trembles and shakes and abides. Slowly exhale three breaths, do not intentionally hold or release the breath, but let it be natural, and focus your mind. From the Five Stages: "Entering and abiding, and also the stages of arising, with wisdom and means, abide in the base, the limbs of the mantra are not diminished, recite." Therefore, recite about twenty-one times for each stage of the three stages of breath arising, entering, and abiding. In this way, the breath will not be disturbed and will naturally abide, this is the first contemplation sequence. Then, when the breath goes out, recite the sound of Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ།, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hūṃ), when it enters, recite the sound of Oṃ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ།, Devanagari: ओं, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Oṃ), and when it abides, recite the sound of Āḥ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: Āḥ) in your mind.

At that time, visualize that when exhaling, five-colored rays of light emanate from the bindu in the heart, each ray passing unobstructed through the central channel from the space between the eyebrows, and exiting along with the breath from the nostrils. Its light pervades, purifying all outer and inner phenomena, making them the nature of light. Accompanied by the sound of Om (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओ,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:Om), when inhaling, gather the purified outer and inner phenomena, which have the appearance of light, from the central channel and dissolve them into the bindu in the heart. Accompanied by the sound of Ah (藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:आ,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:Ah), contemplate dwelling in it. To this, single-mindedly engage in Vajra recitation, this is the second stage of visualization. Sometimes, if the movement in and out through the central channel is coordinated with the breath from the nose, exiting through the Brahma aperture at the crown of the head, it can serve as a supplement to previous practice. However, if it is done too much, it is similar to transference of consciousness, so it is said that one should master the measure of practice, this is the third stage of visualization. In this way, combine the visualization of expanding, contracting, and dissolving, and recite, knowing that it is the primordial body, speech, and mind of all Buddhas. Moreover, initially, before becoming skilled, just make the three—rising, entering, and abiding—equal, and strive to make the breath flow gently and slowly, as if one does not feel its movement. Always maintain a steady flow of breath, and clearly recognize the number of exhalations and inhalations without discrimination. If subtle and long breaths occur, shorten the Hum (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:Hum) and Om (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओ,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:Om) sounds, and lengthen the recitation of the Ah (藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:आ,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:Ah) syllable, this is the fourth stage of visualization. By striving in this way, the breath stops as it gathers in the central channel, and all other appearances vanish except for the appearance of the bindu, and the experience of clarity and emptiness arises, like a clear autumn sky. Having become accustomed to this, engage in Vajra recitation again, maintaining the previous visualization of expanding, contracting, and dissolving, and counting the three—rising, entering, and abiding—while remembering the sound of the three syllables in your mind, this is Effortful Vajra recitation. Abandoning all three—going, coming, and abiding—and resting in the state of emptiness, letting the breath remain naturally, strive to practice these two profound Vajra recitations, this is the fifth stage of visualization. By practicing in this way, the signs mentioned earlier will appear, and in particular, as a sign that the breath is abiding in the central channel, mirage-like visions will appear, and the signs of clarity and stability will manifest more clearly and steadily than before in the stage of Body Vajra, and one will be able to see them directly with the mind. Clear and bright, like a cloudless sky.
