Then, engage in the supreme practice. Fifth, the foundation of the general vehicle is the guidance on taking refuge: The Key Instructions say: In order to liberate all beings equal to space from suffering, abandon the path of returning to samsara, and take refuge in the Three Jewels. Sit in a secluded place on a comfortable cushion, relax your mind, and contemplate as follows: In the sky in front of you, there is a wish-fulfilling tree, with a very lush heart, on top of a lion throne, lotus, sun and moon cushion, the root guru Vajradhara Diamond Holder), surrounded by the lineage gurus, in front are the yidam mandala deities, on the right is the Buddha Jewel, behind is the Dharma Jewel, on the left is the Sangha Jewel, surrounded by dakinis, Dharma protectors, etc., imagine them like dense clouds. Together with all beings who have been your mothers, take refuge with respectful mind. It is said. That is to say, if you have no fear and have freedom, then you do not need to seek refuge in anything. However, we are not like that, from beginningless time, we have been overwhelmed by the darkness of ignorance and have fallen into the terrible prison of samsara. The three doors are bound by the ropes of desire, bound by the iron chains of self-grasping, struck by the weapons of karma and afflictions, tormented by the punishments of old age and poverty, and finally involuntarily led to the court of the Lord of Death and handed over to the executioners of the lower realms. Therefore, the only ones who can save us from these are the Three Jewels, so the infallible refuge must be the Three Jewels. As the great scholar said: The lord of samsara, no matter how good, will deceive, the refuge, the Three Jewels, will not deceive. The great accomplished Milon also said: The incomparable Three Jewels, body, speech, and mind constantly rely on them, infallible, whatever is desired is accomplished. Therefore, make a firm resolution and wholeheartedly believe that only the Three Jewels are the refuge and reliance, and thus take refuge. In a secluded place, on a comfortable cushion, straighten your body and relax your mind. Visualize that this land where you are is made of the nature of jewels, as flat as the palm of your hand, soft, and a pleasant pure land, becoming vast and expansive. In its center, there is a wish-fulfilling tree, with abundant branches, leaves, flowers, and fruits.

The trees are extremely lush, covering the sky in front of oneself. Its branches extend to the center and the four directions, and in the center of the trunk, supported by eight great lions, is a high and wide seat of various precious lotuses and stacked suns and moons. Visualize the root guru, the complete Vajradhara, in red form, surrounded by the lineage gurus, abiding as the embodiment of all the Jewels. On each of the four branches extending to the four directions, clearly visualize a high and vast seat of lion throne, lotus, and stacked sun and moon. On the seat in front of the guru, are all the holy beings of the special Buddha Jewel, Dharma Jewel, Sangha Jewel, and the Yidam Mandala. On the seat to the right, are the common Buddha Jewel, the Bhagavan Shakyamuni Buddha, and the supreme emanations of the Buddhas of the ten directions and three times. On the seat behind, is the Dharma Jewel, appearing in the form of stacked scriptures. On the seat to the left, is the common Sangha Jewel, the Bodhisattvas, Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Noble Ones. Surrounding all of these, are the special Sangha Jewel, the Dakinis, Dharma Protectors, Guardians, and the assembly of beings with the eyes of wisdom, as dense as a cloud, abiding in a manner of protecting me. Then, visualize one's father on the right, mother on the left, and so on, the entire earth filled with sentient beings of the six realms, without enemies or friends, without partiality, like the dust of the great earth. Lead them, and all of them respectfully join their palms together with their bodies. With their mouths, they respectfully utter the loud and clear words of refuge. With their minds, they respectfully think that from this time until the essence of enlightenment, there is no other hope, reliance, or refuge other than you. Completely entrust the three doors of body, speech, and mind to the Three Jewels, and take refuge with strong devotion and reverence. In particular, driven by great compassion for all sentient beings, thinking of asking you to protect these beings from the terrible suffering of samsara, recite the following words: Namo! Until enlightenment, for myself and all beings. Guru, Buddha, and the sacred Dharma. (藏文:བླ་མ་སངས་རྒྱས་དམ་པའི་ཆོས།,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:,汉语字面意思:) Supreme assembly, Sugata Mandala deities. Together with the Dakinis, I take refuge. Recite hundreds and thousands of times, striving to make it a certainty that the mind and mouth are in harmony, and then conclude the session.
