Peh! If you have dealings and debts with someone of bad origin, it is better to obtain a good pledge of property that you do not cherish, so that there is no fear of losing that relationship. Similarly, if you have gained mastery over the practice of daytime appearances, then even when you are asleep, bright light will naturally and effortlessly appear. Since the way dreams and the bardo of existence are confused is similar, in the bardo of existence, the current practice will also appear effortlessly, so there is no fear of being controlled by confusion. That is because, if you do not recognize the nature of the illusion of daytime appearances, it will appear again in dreams, which is called 'double delusion.' Similarly, in the bardo of existence, if you do not recognize the nature of illusion, you will wander again in samsara. Therefore, if you recognize your own awareness, your own mind, and your own appearances as inseparable, you will cut off the root of confusion in daytime appearances, dreams, and the bardo of existence, so there is no point in wandering in samsara, and there are no secrets to hide. Furthermore, when approaching sleep, identify the signs of the dissolution of the four elements and the three lights of appearance, increase, and attainment. When near-attainment dissolves into clear light, a state of drowsiness and fainting occurs, so clearly recognize this and remain focused, so that the illusion of dreams does not arise. If you do not recognize the state of drowsiness and are confused in a dream, whether you recognize that it is a dream or not, do not follow the confusion, but it is important to practice diligently to strengthen the power of daytime practice. Fifth, the bardo of dying is the period from near the cessation of the outer breath to the cessation of the inner breath. The example of a nephew going to his loving aunt is like this: if the nephew has a loving aunt, then whenever he goes to her, he will be happy and joyful, and will not feel afraid. Similarly, here, if you have confidence in the practice of day and night, you will feel joy rather than fear when going to death and the bardo of existence. Furthermore, when approaching death, identify the twenty gross elements. In particular, earth dissolves into water, so the body cannot support itself; water dissolves into fire, so the mouth and nose become dry; fire dissolves into wind, so heat decreases; wind dissolves into consciousness, so the breath becomes labored and heavy; consciousness dissolves into appearance, so a white light appears; appearance dissolves into increase, so a red light appears; increase dissolves into near-attainment, so one faints into darkness; near-attainment dissolves into clear light.

Just as the mother is free from the three causes that make the sky turbid, the clear light like the clear dawn sky will appear. Gradually recognize these, or recognize the aftermath of fainting, or recognize the fainting itself. If you can abide in that clear light, you will not need to go through the bardo, but will be liberated into the Dharmakaya. Moreover, if you recognize the clear light of deep sleep and abide in it, and do not follow the delusions of dreams, you will recognize the clear light of death, and at the ground-time, your own mind, the clear light, will recognize itself. If you experience the appearance of clear light in deep sleep, you will undoubtedly be liberated into the Dharmakaya from the clear light of death. If it is difficult for you to recognize it yourself, the lama or Dharma friends should guide you step by step and clearly introduce it. At that time, if the awareness is dull, awaken the awareness and focus your mind on the Dharma nature. If the awareness is scattered and agitated, abide in it and bring it back to its original state. Whether it is dullness or agitation, purify it in the clear and pure space of Dharma nature. Sixth, it is said that "the existence bardo is like inserting a willow branch into a broken irrigation ditch." The existence bardo refers to the period from the awakening from the clear light of death's faint until the next body is taken. The analogy of inserting a willow branch into a broken irrigation ditch is like this: if the embankment of an irrigation ditch for irrigating farmland is damaged and broken, a willow branch or something similar is used to repair and insert it in order to immediately continue the flow. If it is not repaired, the water will go nowhere. Just like a broken irrigation ditch, between the previous and subsequent lives, just like the broken part of the irrigation ditch, if the practice is not continued in the bardo, just like water flowing away from the broken part of the irrigation ditch, in the bardo between the previous and subsequent lives, consciousness will be confused and wander in samsara. Among them, the superior person, as mentioned above, can be liberated into the Dharmakaya. If one is not liberated into the Dharmakaya, the intermediate person can be liberated into the Sambhogakaya in the bardo, that is, when the mental body of the bardo possesses all the senses, etc., one must clearly recognize that this is the bardo, and like continuing the previous practice, in an instant, remember that the body is Avalokiteshvara, the speech is the six-syllable mantra Six Syllables), and the mind is the nature of non-proliferation, and practice it. Because it is easy to transform the self-appearing body in the bardo, one can be liberated into the body, speech, and mind of Avalokiteshvara in an instant, thereby attaining the Sambhogakaya.
