I hold one of the two views of the Sautrāntika school. The Vaibhāṣika school asserts that all phenomena encompassed by the five aggregates and the three unconditioned elements are categorized into five knowable objects. They further divide these conditioned phenomena into moments and atoms. Consequently, material forms are understood to be bounded by indivisible atoms, while consciousness is comprehended as merely the sequential arising of indivisible moments. Therefore, there is no self of a person within them, only the nature of the aggregation of multiple phenomena. This contaminated aggregate is impermanent in every moment, serves as the basis for the three kinds of suffering, and, being devoid of a self of a person, lacks a master and an agent. Through this understanding, one realizes the truth of suffering. This aggregate, characterized by suffering, arises entirely from the causes and conditions of afflictions rooted in attachment to self, and due to their influence, accumulates various actions, repeatedly being born in existence. Thus, one realizes the truth of the origin. The path of abandoning the very root of the cause of birth in existence, which is the clinging to self, is through the wisdom that realizes selflessness. This path is the path to attain liberation and nirvāṇa. Through this very path, one will certainly be liberated from the mire of saṃsāra and attain ultimate liberation. This is logical, supremely accomplished, and reasonable. Seeing that there is no other path to liberation apart from the path of selflessness is the realization of the truth of the path. By becoming accustomed to this path, one abandons both the conceptually constructed and innate clinging to self. The cessation of the cycle of birth in the three realms is the definitive liberation from saṃsāra. Knowing that the pacification of karma, afflictions, and suffering without a name is the most excellent and extraordinary among all things to be sought and attained is the realization of the truth of cessation. In this way, one realizes the four truths through the means of observation. They assert that these two indivisible entities are truly existent, and because they have not realized the emptiness of the nature of arising, ceasing, and all pure and impure phenomena, they have not realized the selflessness of phenomena. Their meditation involves familiarizing themselves with the contemplation of unattractiveness and other practices as antidotes to the three poisons. Their conduct involves abiding in the completely pure Prātimokṣa vows, thereby practicing the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment. The result

That is the four pairs and eight types of individuals, namely, those who have attained the seven fruits of the path of training, and ultimately the Arhat who has exhausted all bonds in the three realms. The tenets of that Hearer, although similar in asserting the four truths and the selflessness of the individual, and in accepting the two indivisible entities as truly existent, do not accept non-associated compositional factors and unconditioned phenomena as substances like the Vaibhashikas, but only as imputations. Furthermore, they hold that external objects are cognized through the very appearance of external phenomena to consciousness, and that external objects actually exist in a hidden manner, and so forth. In terms of conventions, the Sutra School's tenets are separately stated from the Hearers because of some acceptances that are in accordance with the reasoning of factual force. However, the view, meditation, conduct, and results are no different from those of the Hearers. Secondly, the vehicle of the Solitary Realizer: In previous lives, having heard the Dharma of selflessness and made aspirations, in the last existence, one is born with a strong mind of weariness towards existence, and contemplates bones abandoned in charnel grounds, thinking, "This is called death; the cause of this is taking birth," and so forth. Thus, by contemplating the dependent origination in forward and reverse order up to ignorance, one realizes the truth of suffering and the truth of origin. Moreover, one realizes the selflessness of the individual in the same way, that ignorance is merely grasping at a mistaken superimposition, but in reality, if one realizes that there is no individual self as it is apprehended, then one knows that ignorance, the cause of cyclic existence, ceases, and thus realizes the truth of the path. Also, because ignorance ceases, one realizes the truth of cessation by contemplating the dependent origination in forward and reverse order, from aging and death to cessation. And due to the power of the dependent origination of the continuum of momentary internal consciousness, external phenomena merely appear like dream appearances, but in terms of meaning, even indivisible atoms that are established as external objects are not established. Because momentary indivisible internal consciousness is accepted as truly established, it is a view that realizes half of selflessness, knowing that the aspect of form, which is the object of apprehension in the selflessness of the individual and the selflessness of phenomena, is unreal. The meditation is based on the fourth dhyana, and one is able to generate in one's continuum, on a single seat, from the heat of the path of joining up to the wisdom of exhaustion and non-arising, in a way that correctly ascertains the key points of dependent origination in forward and reverse order. The conduct is...
