There are five levels of foundation. The five pegs of the three bodies are: affixing the pegs of the three bodies to the body of the yidam deity, affixing the pegs of the three bodies to the obstructing demons, affixing the pegs of the three bodies to the three secret enemies, affixing the pegs of the three bodies to the dangerous places of the six realms, and affixing the pegs of the three bodies to the demons of the elements, these are the five. Thus, in the Dharma assembly of the Sugatas, these one hundred and thirty sections of Tantra, Agama, and Upadesha were arranged, which were requested by the Sovereign King and granted by the master Padmasambhava, and then concealed as treasures behind the Buddha statue of Lhodrak Khoting Namnang and other places. The sixteenth reincarnation of the Sovereign King, the great Sovereign Nyang Nyima Oser, unearthed the treasure. That great being received the teachings of this path in the manner of a confluence of rivers, and from then on, the good lineage of ripening and liberation practices has been transmitted in succession and remains undiminished to this day. These are brief histories; for more details, one should learn from the treasury of secret mantra teachings and the Dharma origins. Second, the virtue in the middle, guiding through the method of teaching the Dharma with historical context, is divided into two: common and specific. First, all the Buddha's words are taught in a way that generates certainty as the Buddha's words through the five perfections: the teacher, the place, the retinue, the time, and the Dharma. All treatises are explained through five aspects: who is the author? From which source is it collected, and to which tradition does it belong? From what is the name derived? For what purpose was it written? What is the meaning of the beginning and the end? By ascertaining these five aspects, one should understand and explain the purity of the treatises. In general, one should guide with the common meaning, explain with the outline of the text, and examine the meaning of the words. There, one should understand the necessity, connect the words, and show the answers to objections to doubts about inappropriateness. And in a way that generates correct knowledge free from the defilements of misunderstanding, wrong understanding, and doubt, with the support of reason, this is the general case. Second, the specific explanation, in general, all the doors of the sacred Dharma of the transcendent vehicle are summarized into the nine successive vehicles.

According to their order, explaining the differences in view, meditation, conduct, and result of each of them in a way that each possesses the five perfections, without mixing them up, and separately distinguishing and explaining the various philosophical tenets of outsiders and insiders. Those need to be examined in detail in the treasury of secret mantra teachings. To speak briefly here, philosophical tenets are divided into two types: outsiders and insiders. The first has three hundred and sixty views, sixty-two terrifying views, twenty wrong views, five तर्क (Sanskrit, तर्क, tarka, reasoning) schools, four मुस्तिक (Sanskrit, मुस्तिक, mustika, liberation) schools, the two of permanence and annihilation, and so on, with various classifications, but in short, they are summarized into the two of permanence and annihilation. The view of permanence holds that the nature of the self or Brahma, Ishvara, etc., is permanent, and that everything is done by them. The annihilationist view holds that the present aggregates arise suddenly from the four elements, and because they are cut off after death, there is no such thing as sentient beings repeatedly wandering in samsara. Regarding this, the view that the self of a person is neither one with nor different from the aggregates is refuted by reasoning. Moreover, there is no such thing as a permanent person like Brahma, Ishvara, Vishnu, etc., who performs the function of creating all the worlds, because permanence is devoid of function, and whatever has function is necessarily impermanent. All others are impermanent, but there is no proof that it alone is permanent, because if it exists as a real entity, it is impossible for it to be pre-existent without being born from a cause. To speak of annihilation is also unreasonable, because it is impossible for any dharma to arise without a cause. If it were to arise without a cause, it would follow that it is either always existent or always non-existent. And for dependent arising dharmas, it is impossible for the result to be cut off when the causes and conditions are complete. Therefore, the cause of the mind of a sentient being's birth is the previous moment of mind, and there is no contradiction in reason that the mind of the next existence arises from the mind at the time of death, and there is proof for it. If it were not so, then all the phenomena that appear now would not depend on cause and effect, and it would follow that everything exists or everything does not exist, etc., with many faults, so it can be refuted. Buddhist insiders also have the philosophical tenets of the causal characteristic vehicle and the philosophical tenets of the resultant mantra vehicle. The first has three vehicles: the Hearer Vehicle, the Solitary Realizer Vehicle, and the Bodhisattva Vehicle. Among the Hearers, there are also the Vaibhashikas.
