The thirteenth ground should be combined with the ground of the great assembly of the wheel of letters. Thus, the thirteen great qualities of glorious Hayagriva are symbolized by the horse's neigh. Just as the thirteen qualities of the horse's neigh are complete at once in one utterance of the glorious Hayagriva's neigh, so too, the meaning is that one possesses such a distinction of qualities that one can perfect the thirteen grounds and five paths at once without traversing them. It should be understood that this is shown by symbolizing it with the green horse head on the crown of the head, the white streak on the forehead, the red mane, and the yellow radiance, as signs and symbols. Third, the horse's neigh that distinguishes the secret mantra is: The intention and conduct of the secret mantra that relies on the samadhi of the deity mantra of glorious Hayagriva is: Just as a horse is strong and travels quickly, if one relies on the profound intention and conduct of the secret mantra, one will reach the ground of Buddhahood more quickly than other paths. Just as a horse is skilled at traveling on paths, one becomes skilled at traversing the nine vehicles and grounds and paths, and reaches the summit. Just as a horse is eloquent, the secret mantra of the supreme horse is more eloquent than others. Just as a horse possesses fierce power, Hayagriva also subdues the wicked with fierce majesty. Just as a horse possesses the feet of miraculous power, it quickly suppresses the ground of Buddhahood, possessing such signs, therefore it is called Hayagriva. The external Hayagriva is also the body of the inner yogi. The secret is that there is no separation from one's own mind, and one knows the three kinds of appearances, sounds, and thoughts as the body, speech, and mind of Hayagriva, and one knows that the self-born wisdom of mind itself, the great bliss that pervades all, is indeed the king of Padma power of definite meaning. If one knows this, one will obtain the common and supreme siddhis in that instant, therefore, by combining with the grounds and paths, this horse's neigh that distinguishes the secret mantra indicates the greatness of the essential points of meditation, therefore it is the meaning of the second horse's neigh. Fourth, the horse's neigh of skillful means for taming beings is: The three horse's neighs of glorious Hayagriva are signals to the assembly of mamos and dakinis, and the three arrogant sounds of the mamos are signals to the consorts of glorious Vajra, thereby opening up the realm of intention, and the three horse's neighs of the yogi are to control the assembly of phenomenal existence mamos, thereby showing the manner of acting, among these three, the first is the three horse's neighs of the glorious one.

When the glorious Hayagriva first proclaimed the horse's neigh from the crown of his head, all phenomena of appearance and existence, from the very beginning, without being fabricated or altered, were realized as spontaneously accomplished in the mandala of glorious Hayagriva, in the state of the great self-arisen wisdom of equality between samsara and nirvana. When the intermediate horse's neigh was uttered, all phenomena encompassed by the three realms and the three existences transformed into a vast mass of flesh, an ocean of blood, and a Mount Meru of skeletons, providing an uninterrupted stream of delightful enjoyment for all the mothers and dakinis of appearance and existence. When the final horse's neigh was proclaimed, all the mothers and dakinis were brought under command, obediently listening to every instruction, and summoned with haughty songs, thereby accomplishing the four activities and so forth, just as desired. This is the activity of the great glorious Hayagriva himself proclaiming the three horse's neighs, and it is also how the Hayagriva yogi meditates during the path. These three horse's neighs, through symbolic representation, demonstrate the three: view, meditation, and conduct. The first horse's neigh demonstrates the view of equality. The second demonstrates the special characteristic of skillful means in secret mantra, transforming the three poisons into the path, and controlling the mothers and dakinis, engaging in the practice of secret union and liberation, as well as the special path of generation and completion stages, such as generating the wrathful samadhi. The third horse's neigh demonstrates the conduct of the secret mantra yogi controlling the assembly of mothers and dakinis, accomplishing the four activities. Moreover, according to the oral transmission from my lama, the great treasure revealer Rinpoche, the three horse's neighs, combined with the definitive meaning, are widely known. In terms of the ultimate meaning, the first horse's neigh demonstrates the wisdom of the ground, the inseparability of samsara and nirvana, the intrinsic meaning of rigpa-emptiness. The second demonstrates the path, the generation stage, and the practice of the six-branch yoga, such as the completion stage of reabsorption. The third horse's neigh demonstrates the manner of manifesting the ultimate wisdom of the result, which we have received well as a ripening instruction. Thus, at the time when the glorious three horse's neighs are invoked, the mothers and dakinis, strutting about, sing songs that do not deviate from their previous vows and commitments. What are they? We come from the realm of space! We come from the realm of space!
