Since there are also profound and special differences, mixing too much expansion and covering here will only increase fatigue in vain, so do not do so. Third, focusing the mind on the mudra of the heart: The root text says: On the mind-nature mudra, the vajra of heavenly iron, The method of holding is that the heart transforms into nine points of heavenly iron. On that, practice gathering and releasing as before and hold it. As it is said, the method of practice is: In the heart of oneself, clearly visualize as the deity, hold a nine-pointed vajra of heavenly iron. If releasing, then from that, release countless nine-pointed vajras, and visualize that all external vessels and internal essence are filled with flames. Again, gather it back, visualize it dissolving into the vajra that is the basis of release in the heart, and rest in equanimity. This is just like the root text says to practice the vajra in the heart, and from that to perform gathering and releasing. When practicing the HUM (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) syllable, the gathering and releasing is done from the HUM syllable in front, because there is no clear explanation of releasing from the heart, so do not confuse it like this. The instruction manual says: People of superior, medium, and inferior faculties, with seven, fourteen, or twenty-one days, will definitely generate qualities, signs, and accomplishments, perfect enjoyment, and turn the wheel of Dharma. As it is said, through practical guidance, with the mind focused on body, speech, and mind, strive with such a number of days until signs arise, and if releasing at this time, then recite the ritual text, do tsokhor, etc., which is in accordance with the guidance manual, and even if you don't do it, there is no contradiction. The root text says: After that, the preliminary practice of Kadag (藏文:ཀ་དག་,梵文:*ādi-śuddha*,梵文罗马拟音:adi-shuddha,汉语字面意思:原始清净) Vajra, and the HUM (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) syllable preliminary practice, the red and white bindu visualization sequence is cultivated. Among the three meanings of focusing the mind, the first is focusing the mind on the white vajra: The guidance manual of Dzogchen Kadag, the treasure text "Lamp to Eliminate the Darkness of Ignorance" or "Essential Collection of the Quintessence of the Path" says: If you want to achieve Buddhahood in this life, outwardly like the appearance of objects, inwardly like the expression of awareness, a fortunate person with karma, in a place seven cubits in front, a white five-pointed vajra, rotating to the right, about the size of oneself, visualize clearly and rotate vigorously. As it is said, in a place about seven cubits in front of oneself, clearly visualize a white five-pointed vajra, about the size of oneself, and hold the vajra rotating to the right. To this, if the focus is clear,

The signs are: Continuing from the above, the signs of clear appearance of the object will arise: dizziness, ringing in the ears, and the wind and awareness, wherever they are directed, will swirl around the vajra. It is said that if this happens, to counteract the reversal, focus your mind on the vajra rotating to the left. Finally, let the wind and mind rest equally, inseparable from the vajra. Meditate on this seven, three, or twenty-one times, as appropriate. Finally, then take a day of rest. It is said that if the object seems to bother you, then for a whole day, let go of the focus and gathering of the object, and rest in the state of reality. Second, focusing the mind on the blue Hūṃ: From the instructions of Kadak, it says: In front, at a distance of seven cubits, a large blue Hūṃ, the size of oneself. It is said that, like meditating on the white vajra before, at a distance of seven cubits in front, clearly visualize a blue Hūṃ with a head, the size of oneself, and focus your mind on it. Some people think of meditating on the Hūṃ syllable in the center of the blue vajra, but this is a confusion with the vajra above, so it is sufficient to meditate only on the Hūṃ. If staying, rest equally on the Hūṃ syllable. It says, so direct your awareness to that blue Hūṃ syllable and rest in whatever state it is in. If distracted, to the earth, stones, mountains, cliffs, Mount Meru, the four continents, subcontinents, enemies, friends, houses, one's own body, pleasing friends and beautiful wealth, to whatever appears as the object of distraction, like a sea monster drilling with a conch shell, drill thoroughly outwards, drill thoroughly inwards, think of it as ownerless, separated wealth. It is said that, for the objects of appearance to which awareness is distracted, earth, stones, mountains, cliffs, Mount Meru, the four continents, subcontinents, etc., and the appearances of the six consciousnesses, enemies, friends, houses, pleasing friends and wealth, etc., whatever appears, from that Hūṃ, emanate countless Hūṃ syllables. For example, a merchant sailing the ocean sees a sea monster like a mountain from a distance, and to distinguish whether it is a mountain or a sea monster, he releases a pigeon, and to kill it, he releases a live white conch shell, and the sea monster's body is drilled through, like being freed from fear, as a metaphor. With that Hūṃ syllable, drill thoroughly outwards and inwards like a sieve through those objects of appearance, making them ungraspable. Finally, even this body that appears to be substantial, from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet, drill through it as if it were riddled with flesh-eating worms, and rest in ungraspability, etc. Like this, the sign of clear appearance of the object is, the appearance of clear
