After examining, as before, where do the inner and outer environments, the parts of the body, etc., reside? If you think it resides in the heart, etc., then where does it reside in the muscles, skin, blood vessels, ends, edges, or center? What represents it in terms of shape, color, function, or substance, etc.? Through examination and analysis, if you see that none of these can be established anywhere, then look inward at the discriminating awareness. Awareness appears as clear and empty, but its self-nature is not established. Repeat this until you are convinced that it is without foundation or root. Finally, examine the place of going. This thought that arises suddenly and disappears suddenly, where does it go? Where does it go? When the eye sees an object, does the inner seer go to that outer object? Analyze this. Similarly, where do the inner and outer environments, appearance and emptiness, existence and non-existence go? Investigate thoroughly. Because the essence of awareness is free from all that can be identified, the place of going and the awareness that goes are not established. Repeat this until you are convinced that awareness is empty and free from coming and going. These purify the sins of the mind and pacify obstacles. They reverse the mind's clinging. Ultimately, you become inseparable from the Guru Vajradhara Dharmakaya. The third is relaxing and restoring: The threads of previous distractions are cut, and after subduing the wild mind, relax and cultivate formless shamatha. Restore through methods of observation, etc., harmonizing shamatha and vipashyana, and placing the realization of the true nature on the path. The main practice is to alternate between the view of Cutting Through (Khregs Chod) and the meditation of Leap Over (Thod rGal), which is the unique system of Dzogchen. However, this is intended for ordinary individuals, so it explains the same way of settling shamatha and vipashyana as in Mahamudra, etc. Therefore, relaxing and restoring are included within shamatha and vipashyana, so they are not explained separately. Second, the main part has four: seeking shamatha, cultivating vipashyana, meditating on union, and introducing the true nature as it is. The first has three: gradually guiding those with dull faculties, directly introducing those with sharp faculties to the main practice, and mentioning the common and important ways of settling. The first also has two: with support and without support. The first, with support, has five. The first is to hold the mind by relying on forms: The mountain posture is upright, and the body settles into the seven-point posture of Vairochana. The awareness is upright, and the speech settles into the natural state of breath. The mind settles, and the mind holds. Apart from not forgetting the object of focus,

Having understood all that does not involve any adjustment, collection, or thought, place something like a piece of wood or a pebble in front of you and fix your gaze with the stillness of a vast ocean. If you become distracted, gather your mind back to the object of focus, not too tightly, but with a slight relaxation. Second, focusing on the deity's form: In front of you, in the center of a blue bindu, visualize the union of Samantabhadra and Samantabhadri seated on a lotus and moon disc, or the fully adorned form of Guru Rinpoche, whether painted or sculpted, and hold your mind on that. When accustomed, hold your mind on visualizing it mentally. When you are accustomed to that as well, visualize that form in the center of your heart and hold your mind on that. Third, focusing on the seed syllables: In front of you, visualize a stack of white Om (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡), red Ah (藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:आः,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:阿), and blue Hum (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), one on top of the other, or focus on the form of all three. When accustomed, visualize them in your three places (forehead, throat, and heart) and hold your mind on that. Fourth, focusing on the attributes and hand gestures: In front of you, focus on a white five-pronged vajra, and when accustomed, visualize it in the center of your heart. Fifth, relying on bindus: In front of you, visualize three bindus, white, red, and blue, and when skilled, visualize them in the three places of the body as before. Second, without support First of the three, holding the mind with vajra recitation of the breath: Remember and mentally count the breath entering as Om (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡), staying as Ah (藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:आः,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:阿), and exiting as Hum (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), without distraction. Second, relying on gentle breath: Expel the stale air three times, hold the gentle breath, and focus your mind on that. Third, relying on forceful breath: Expel the stale air, hold the forceful breath like a vase, and focus your mind on that. Through these, grasp the key points of the practice of dwelling in a place, and thereby seek the actual calm abiding. Second, guiding the excellent ones into the main practice, there are three stages. First, combining with the view of the peaceful Shravakas: The body remains unmoving in the seven-point posture. The mouth does not speak, and the flow of breath is allowed to be naturally slow. The eyes fix on the space at the tip of the nose. Awareness remains self-aware and self-luminous, without wavering, and as the consciousness of the six senses arises, one neither clings to it nor rejects it, but leaves it in its natural state, so that the appearance of objects reveals their own nature, and one trains in not losing the state of non-conceptualization. Second, combining the intermediate with the view of the Bodhisattvas: Other than that, as before, just shift the gaze to the space in between, staring blankly, and thereby arise
