The two minds of object-holder and subject-holder, examining and analyzing whether they are the same or different, etc., is the awareness of emptiness that cannot be established anywhere. It does not fall into any side of object and subject, arising and ceasing, permanence and annihilation, etc. This awareness that is not anything, clear and bright like crystal, transcends the realm of what can be expressed as it is, and is free from the marks of delusion and non-delusion. As it is said in the Pearl Rosary: "In the very beginning of primordial purity, it cannot be said to be just delusion. Likewise, what is non-delusion? Therefore, delusion is primordially pure." Thus it is said. Third, examining the three places of arising, dwelling, and going: Thus, even though the emptiness of the ground is sought but not found, this mind that grasps at self in selflessness, where does it first arise from, where does it dwell in the middle, and where does it go in the end? Examining and analyzing, when the awareness of the observer reaches the object of observation, that awareness itself transcends the realm of speech, thought, and expression, so although it cannot be pointed out as what it is, the awareness of emptiness that can be experienced arises as spontaneously accomplished wisdom. As it is said in the scripture: "Looking at the place of dwelling in the place of dwelling, looking at the place of arising in the place of arising, the nature of primordial purity, emptiness, becomes manifest." And as it is said in the 'Garland of Liberation': "Examining everything inside and outside, emptiness is liberation." And it says: "If one knows the all-ground to be completely pure, then the emptiness of the ground is manifest and self-liberated." Thus it is said. Moreover, the examination of the three places of arising, dwelling, and going is explained twice. The former establishes that the mind has no basis and no root, and the latter directly indicates the actual state of abiding in its meaning. The Omniscient Dharma Lord said: "The former is to examine the object and establish that it is not established, here it is to examine the subject and directly establish its essence." Thus it is said. Second, pointing out the self-nature of awareness: As it is said in the scripture: "Pointing out from the perspective of abiding, and pointing out from the perspective of experiential practice." As the preliminary to the two types of pointing out shown in this way, relying on Guru Yoga, the method of obtaining the transference of blessings is extremely important. Therefore, offerings and tsok offerings, etc., are arranged extensively. The students offer mandalas and sit with their bodies in the correct posture. The visualization sequence of Guru Yoga is recited. Pray to the lineage of gurus to generate special realization of the profound path. The guru shakes the skull drum.
