Having traveled from Snam to Samye, the king and his subjects welcomed him. Upon arriving at Samye, he was invited to the great assembly hall. The master did not prostrate to the king, nor did he prostrate to the deities. The ministers asked, "To this monastery of ours, many panditas have been invited before, and we continue to invite them. Pandita, why do you not prostrate to our king, nor do you prostrate to the temple?" The master replied, "Do you, the king and ministers, understand the meaning of prostration?" The king replied, "We do not understand the meaning of prostration." The master said, "I have already prostrated to that which is non-dual with the deities. Because of that meaning, the symbolic deities cannot be reached, so I do not prostrate to the deities, nor do I prostrate to the king." The king thought, "Then, is he truly a Buddhist, or is he a heretic?" As he was contemplating this, Vimalamitra perceived the king's thoughts and asked, "King, are you displeased?" Then, Vimalamitra, holding his Dharma robes, performed a miraculous prostration to the king's heart-essence deity, the statue of Vairochana, saying, "Vairochana, the embodiment of form, the supreme of the gods; Vimalamitra, the embodiment of wisdom, prostrates in the state of conventional illusion." As he performed this prostration, the statue of Vairochana cracked from the crown of its head down to the throne. The king thought, "He must certainly be a heretic," and his face turned dark. Again, Vimalamitra asked, "King, are you displeased?" The king replied, "I am displeased." Vimalamitra then prostrated again, saying, "Vairochana, the supreme of the wisdom deities; Vimalamitra, with the aggregate of form, bestows the empowerment of the meaning endowed with the five wisdoms." Having said this, he placed his hand on the crown of Vairochana's head, and it was even better than before. Immeasurable rays of light appeared, and the three-tiered crown of the head was filled with light. Then, all the deities of Samye were enveloped in light, and the consecration was performed. Afterward, Vimalamitra said, "Now I will prostrate to the king," and he was about to prostrate. The king said, "You outwardly appear as a monk, and inwardly you are a yogi who has attained the siddhis of secret mantra. Please do not prostrate." Vimalamitra said, "You are the king who protects the Dharma of Tibet, so I must prostrate." And as he prostrated, the rays of light from the prostration scorched the king's robes.

The king himself prostrated. Then, the great master Vimalamitra was invited to ascend the throne. Nine layers of brocade cushions were laid, and a large silk cloak was offered to the body. Various foods and a silver vase filled with three measures of gold powder were offered. But the master did not say a single word. The king thought: "Are the southerners of Nepal still greedy and not satisfied?" The master knew this and said, "King, bring a bag." Then he filled the bag with three measures of sand and said, "Hold it for a while." When the king could not hold the bag and was about to drop it, the sand appeared as gold. The king thought, "Everything I see is gold. To fulfill the king's wishes, I must take it for a while." Then, on the plain of Uru (dbu rtse), a Dharma seat was erected, and a request was made to teach the Dharma. The master thought, "Before, Vairochana taught the Resultant Vehicle, but he was not subdued and was expelled. Now I must explain gradually from the Causal Vehicle." When explaining the nature of the Causal Vehicle to the king and ministers, the king sent people to Zhangpo (zhang po) to fetch tea. When they reached Gyalmo Rong (rGyal mo rong), the master Vairochana asked, "Where do you come from?" The merchants replied, "We come from U-Tsang (dbus), our king sent us to fetch tea." (Vairochana asked:) "Then, is the king in good health? Is the king's law as strict as a golden yoke? Is the religious law as tight as a silk knot? Where is the master's place of offering? What Dharma activities are being done?" They replied, "The king is in good health, the king's law is also strict, and the religious law is also tight. The place of offering is Vimalamitra, who was invited from India. They are doing the Dharma of the Causal Vehicle's nature." The master Vairochana said, "I taught the Resultant Vehicle like the Great Perfection, but I was expelled. Now I hear the Causal Vehicle. Yu Zhanye (g.Yu sgra snying po), you go and tell those Tibetan ministers who are dissatisfied with the Dharma a heartfelt word." Then, Yu Zhanye put on the clothes of a beggar, wore a universal hat, held a sandalwood sword in his hand, wrote the Early and Later Great Perfection on two pieces of paper, made them into the Vajra Six Syllables, and hung them on his left ear.
