Did so. From the Immaculate Biography of Guru Padmasambhava: Chapter Fifteen, on the King's Enactment of Religious Laws. Then the king thought: It is necessary to make the sacred Dharma like the rising sun in Tibet. Therefore, it is said that among the five hundred panditas in India, there is a great scholar named Vimalamitra. He thought that he must invite him. Guru Vimalamitra was also an emanation of great compassion. The daughter of the Indian King Dharma Ashoka, named Princess Dharma Bodhi, was very beautiful, like a celestial maiden. She was sleeping in a flower garden when she dreamed that a very handsome white man poured a full vase of nectar on her head. It flowed down from the Brahma aperture, filling her body with bliss. After waking up from the dream, she felt no discomfort in her body. After twenty-one days, she gave birth to a son. Because she had given birth to a child out of wedlock, she felt very ashamed and took the child and threw him in the sand. She looked again and saw that the child's eyes were bright and clear. She felt compassion and took him back and raised him. The child grew faster than others. After some time, at the age of five, he went to Nalanda Monastery. In front of the panditas, he studied the five sciences and became proficient in the Tripitaka, especially in all the tantras. He was ordained in front of Guru Shri Singha and was named Vimalamitra. After that, he became the greatest of scholars and became the great master of the Dharma-protecting King Dharma Chakra. He lived in Vikramashila Monastery with five hundred panditas. Then King Trisong Detsen sent the translators Kawa Paltseg, Chokro Lui Gyaltsen, and Ma Rinchen Chok, with three bushels of gold dust, to Vikramashila Monastery in India. He offered the gold to the Dharma-protecting King Dharma Chakra and requested: As my gift, please send a pandita who is proficient in all the inner and outer Dharmas. You three translators, go and invite him! After giving these instructions, he sent them off. Then the three translators offered the gold to the king of Vikramashila and reported: The Dharma of Tibet...

King Trisong Detsen of Yonge said: Since you are the Dharma-protecting king, as a return gift to me, you must send a Pandit who is proficient in all internal and external Dharmas. Upon hearing this, King Dharmachakra said: Then, I need to inform the five hundred Pandits whom I worship tomorrow morning when they gather. After saying this, the next morning, five hundred Pandits were invited, and each offered a golden mandala and reported: The Dharma-protecting king of Tibet, in return for the gold I sent, requests that a Pandit who is proficient in all internal and external Dharmas be sent. Therefore, these three translators were sent to invite, Please, which of the knowledgeable ones will go? After reporting this, among the five hundred Pandits, the great scholar Vimalamitra, who had become a great wise one, was sitting in the ranks. Three hundred and fifty Pandits on the right, and three hundred and fifty Pandits on the left, all five hundred on the right and left looked at Vimalamitra's face, actually asking you to go. Vimalamitra thought in his heart: Although the Tibetan king has great faith in the Dharma, it seems that the ministers are hostile to the Dharma. It is said that the translator Vairochana was also exiled. I am not sure whether I can subdue them, but I cannot go against the Tibetan king's faith. In order not to disobey the Indian king's order, I must go once. Thinking this way, he stood up and said three times, "Bodhisattva Rada Thim" (Tibetan: བོ་དྷི་སཏྭ་རྡ་ཐིམ་ཅེས་, Sanskrit Devanagari: बोधिसत्त्व रद थिम, Sanskrit Romanization: bodhisattva rada thim, Chinese literal meaning: Bodhisattva Rada Thim), and the three translators had three different understandings. Kawa Paltseg understood it as: An arrow relying on the bowstring, if a strong man's finger can shoot it, the arrow can also hit the target. Saying this, he understood that he should go. Rema Rinchen Chok understood it as: A boat relying on the rope, if a strong man rows, the boat can also cross the water. Saying this, he understood that he should go. Jokro Lujaltsen understood it as: A person with virtues, in a place that is not his hometown, wherever the vase of the body rolls, the river of consciousness flows there. Saying this, he understood that he should go. After that, having obtained the permission of the king and the Pandits, the translators invited the master Vimalamitra, and wrote eight Chinese characters on a four-finger-wide Kawali.
