After realizing that there is neither coming nor abiding anywhere, one should contemplate as follows: Just like the image of the body of the Tathāgata, it initially did not come here from anywhere, and ultimately it will not go anywhere. Even when it appears to abide, it is merely a manifestation in the mind through reasoning or metaphors like the moon in water, but in reality, its nature is emptiness. Recognizing that the manifested form is empty in nature, and therefore separated from self (ātman) and what belongs to self (mamakāra), with the principle of undifferentiated suchness (tathātā), all other dharmas are also merely manifestations in the mind, but in reality, their nature is emptiness, free from arising from anywhere and ceasing to go anywhere, just like an image. The nature of existing in itself, and the non-existence that negates existence, etc., are all separated. Through the observation of insight (vipassanā), there is no longer any conceptualization of existence and non-existence, etc., and there is no dharma that can be definitively expressed in words, becoming one with emptiness (śūnyatā), realizing oneness, meditating on the meaning of the suchness of the form body with a unified mind, and abiding in samādhi for as long as desired. Where is this kind of samādhi explained? This samādhi is explained in the sūtra called 'The Samādhi of the Present Buddha Abiding in Manifestation.' Third, explaining the benefits: There are many benefits of this samādhi, and the details should be understood from that sūtra itself. Meditating on general objects. Second, meditating on general objects is divided into three aspects: cultivating calm abiding (śamatha), cultivating insight (vipassanā), and the union of calm abiding and insight. First, the meaning of the dharmas, which are gathered in one or many ways, is summarized into one, and then the mind is placed, pacifying the faults of samādhi, such as sinking and excitement, thereby cultivating calm abiding. So, what is the object that has been summarized? In short, all dharmas are included in the two categories of form and formlessness. Among them, forms are included in the aggregate of form (rūpa-skandha). The remaining four aggregates, such as feeling (vedanā), perception (saṃjñā), mental formations (saṃskāra), and consciousness (vijñāna), are included in formlessness. In some cases, one can focus on form to cultivate calm abiding. Second, cultivating insight is divided into two aspects: a brief explanation and a detailed explanation.

Secondly, regarding the method of cultivating Vipassanā (insight meditation), initially, at the time of starting the practice, one should focus the mind in this way: Sentient beings in the three realms, due to their attachment to elaborations such as existence and non-existence, their minds are inverted and confused, and they wander involuntarily in Samsara (cyclic existence), suffering. In order to eliminate their inversion, one should take them as the object and generate great compassion, desiring to be free from suffering. The yogi, having accomplished Śamatha (calm abiding), should then cultivate Vipassanā. The purpose is to realize the suchness (true nature) of all phenomena. Second, explaining Vipassanā in detail, there are three parts: first, the distinction of the object of focus that cuts off superimpositions; second, the distinction of the way to enter into it; and third, the order of the method of how to cultivate it. First, correct discrimination is called Vipassanā. What is the correct object of focus? The correct object of focus is the absence of self in persons and the absence of self in phenomena. There are two types of selflessness. The selflessness of persons refers to the aggregates of form, etc., where the innate grasping of self and what belongs to self is merely a complete imputation that is non-existent from the beginning. The selflessness of phenomena refers to the aggregates of form, etc., themselves, which are merely appearances, without inherent existence from the beginning, like an illusion. Second, the distinction of the way to enter into it has five aspects: first, the distinction of discriminating objects; second, obtaining Samādhi (meditative concentration) from it; third, quoting scriptures that explain them; fourth, explaining the meaning of the scriptures; and fifth, summarizing the result of the context. The first is further divided into two: first, discriminating the selflessness of persons; and second, discriminating the selflessness of phenomena. The first is further divided into two: first, the way of discriminating; and second, summarizing the meaning of the context. First, the way of discriminating the object of focus, one should investigate the selflessness of persons in this way: The person is not separate from the aggregates of form, etc. If the person existed separately from the aggregates of form, etc., then it should be perceptible, but apart from the aggregates of form, etc., there is nothing that can be perceived by valid cognition. Moreover, the thought of 'I' does not arise towards external aggregates of form, etc., but only towards one's own aggregates of form, etc. The Sutra also says: 'Whatever renunciates or Brahmins who truly contemplate self or what belongs to self, they truly contemplate self or what belongs to self only in these five aggregates of appropriation.' This passage explains the five aggregates of appropriation. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
