He dispelled the darkness of wrong views by means of the three stages. However, since for a long time, those who regarded the name of the Hwa shang's doctrine as a fault, and who mainly emphasized the meaning of it, have become widespread throughout this Tibetan region. In order to dispel the wrong views of these people and lead them to the correct path, I will clearly explain here the essential instructions for practicing the path, with scripture and reasoning. This is also adorned with the excellent explanations heard from the great Pandit Vana Ratna Maha Sthavira of eastern India. At the urging of Zhalu Ba Sangye Pal of Myangtod Gon Sar, who is learned, master of scripture and reasoning, and well-versed in grammar, epistemology, and poetics, Rongton Chenpo Sheja Kunrig composed this at Byangchub Gling.
