If someone says 'Do not think,' then one will abandon the discriminating wisdom that has the characteristic of correct discernment. Because the root of transcendent correct wisdom lies in the correct discernment of the two accumulations, just as cutting the root of a tree will not produce branches, abandoning it is like cutting the root, and one will also abandon the transcendent wisdom of the path of seeing. Just as there is no difference between black and white clouds obscuring the sun, if someone says that because it obscures seeing the truth, one should not practice giving, keeping morality, etc., then one has completely abandoned the methods of giving, etc., not even leaving a part. If one abandons skillful means and discriminating wisdom, how can it be abandoning the Great Vehicle? In short, the way of abandoning is like this: because the Great Vehicle is established on both wisdom and skillful means. As it is said in the *Arya Gayagori Sutra*: 'The mind of Bodhisattvas, in short, has two aspects, what are the two? Namely, skillful means and wisdom.' The *Tathagata Guhya Sutra* also states: 'These two, skillful means and wisdom, encompass all the paths of Bodhisattvas.' Therefore, abandoning skillful means and wisdom is abandoning the Great Vehicle, so you who abandon skillful means and wisdom will create great karmic obscurations, because you abandon the Great Vehicle. Second, advising to abandon abandoning the Great Vehicle: If abandoning the Great Vehicle will cause great karmic obscurations, therefore, for those who abandon the Great Vehicle, have little knowledge of the scriptures, and hold their own views as the only correct ones, do not attend upon those wise people who can correctly understand the meaning of the scriptures with a respectful attitude, because they have not attended upon the wise teachers, so they cannot truly understand the meaning of the Tathagata's scriptures, first destroying themselves, and then also destroying other disciples. Those words that contradict reason and scripture, filled with poison, for those wise people who desire to achieve liberation in their own minds, should be avoided from afar like poison in food. Refuting the view that does not desire discriminating wisdom. Third, refuting the view that desires discriminating wisdom, divided into two parts: a summary statement and a detailed explanation. First is the summary statement: Like this, discriminating wisdom... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If someone does not want the wisdom of distinction, then they abandon the individual contemplation of the meaning of true selflessness. If individual contemplation is abandoned, then they completely abandon the noble limb of enlightenment called 'extremely distinguishing dharmas'. If one does not individually contemplate the meaning of selflessness truthfully and without inversion, then how can a yogi who practices the path, through what means, reverse the mind that has been accustomed to appearing and clinging to form and other objects as true since beginningless time, and establish it in non-conceptualization? The second part is the detailed explanation, which has five points: refuting entering non-conceptualization through non-attention; it will lead to not understanding the meaning of emptiness; it will lead to the absence of the appearance of wisdom; it will lead to the absence of remembering past lives, etc.; and it will lead to the failure to abandon obscurations. The first point is: if one does not analyze whether the object of clinging to as true is true with the wisdom of distinguishing, but enters the wisdom of non-conceptualization through not remembering and not attending to all dharmas, this is also unreasonable. Because if one does not truthfully and individually contemplate the reality of dharmas through wisdom, then it is impossible to not remember and not attend to all the dharmas directly experienced by the conventional mind. If someone thinks, 'I will not remember form and other dharmas, I will not attend to them,' and cultivates in this way, and cultivates not remembering and not attending to these dharmas, then at that time, this yogi will instead remember and attend to these objects even more. If merely calling not remembering and not attending to as cultivating not remembering and not attending to, then how can these two ways of preventing remembering and attending become not remembering and not attending themselves? Because merely not remembering and not attending cannot even become a universal cause, because it is merely a negation. Therefore, how can non-conceptual wisdom arise from merely the absence of the characteristic of remembering and the negation of not attending? If one could enter non-conceptual wisdom merely by preventing remembering and attending, then fainting, not remembering, not attending, and the absorption of the non-perceptual state would also give rise to non-conceptual wisdom. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
